  1. Organizational Setting

 

The post is located in the WIPO Academy in the Regional and National Development Sector.  The WIPO Academy is the core entity in WIPO for training and capacity-building activities, particularly for developing countries, LDCs and countries with economies in transition.  The Academy acts as an in-house center of excellence on training, including professional training; a catalyst for networks and partnerships to expand the range and impact of training opportunities at the national level; an open-access on-line clearing house of information on all WIPO training activities, tools and services; and a hub of virtual network of partners, experts and teachers in development-oriented IP training.  Beneficiaries of the WIPO Academy services include decision-makers, government officials, officials of national intellectual property offices and societies for collective management of copyright and related rights, intellectual property practitioners, academics, students and other stakeholders.

 

  1. Purpose Statement

 

The WIPO Academy Intellectual Property Training Institutions Project (hereinafter, IPTIs Project) aims to create and consolidate national/regional self-sustaining training capacities to respond to local demand for IP knowledge in a tailored manner, focused on specific goals and priorities. In addition to the support for the establishment of new IPTIs, the WIPO Academy provides ad hoc cooperation to established institutions to respond to their evolving needs, and collective resources to enhance their operations.

 

  1. Reporting Lines

 

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Counsellor of the IPTIs Project of the WIPO Academy.

 

  1. Work Relations

 

The incumbent liaises with relevant government institutions, including national IP offices, IPTIs, Permanent Missions, and Academic Institutions.  He/she has regular contact with IP experts and consultants from different fields, including business, education and digital marketing consultants.

 

 

2.      Duties and Responsibilities

 

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties\:

 

a.   Coordinate the educational aspects of the preparation, implementation and execution of training programs and activities organized in the framework of the IPTI Project.

 

b.   Coordinate the technical aspects of the planning, and organization of the Blended-Learning ToT Program synchronous training.

 

c.   Administer the asynchronous training activities in the LMS IPTIs training spaces modules and maintaining its operations.

 

d.   Provide instructional design support for the programs’ preparation by the subject-matter experts.

 

e.   Assist in creating new evaluation tools and methods per the IPTIs ToT Module’s learning objectives.

 

f.    Coordinate the creation of collective online resources on teaching methodologies for IPTIs.

 

g.   Contribute to the identification of e-learning resources created under ongoing or completed IPTI Projects, which could be utilized for new projects.

 

h.   Contribute to data collection and statistics processing.

 

i.    Provide advice and recommendations to colleagues on education.

 

j.    Perform other duties as required.

 

 

3.      Requirements

 

Education (Essential)

First-level university degree in education.

 

Experience (Essential)

At least six years of relevant professional work experience in the field of adult education and experience in instructional design and in the use of Learning Management Systems.

 

Experience (Desirable)

Acquired knowledge in Moodle, and experience in the implementation of training of trainers’ programs.

 

Certification in e-learning project management.

 

Language (Essential)

Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.

 

Language (Desirable)

Working knowledge of another UN language.

 

Job Related Competencies (Essential)

Demonstrable skills in designing, planning, delivery, and evaluating capacity building projects and activities.

 

Strong ability to manage tasks in an independent manner, while providing instructional design support to other members of the team for the development of a wide range of programs.

 

Highly organized with strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.

 

Strong competency in evaluating new e-Learning delivery technologies and implementing updates adapting to technologies ensuring that best practices duly supported for developing countries.

 

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and the ability to work with Learning Management Systems and adapt quickly to new software.

 

Experience in working in a multinational environment.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural, environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity

5.      Information

 

Annual salary\:

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment.  Please note that this estimate is for information only.  The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice.  The figures quoted below are based on the March 2023 rate of 81.8%

Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
