Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world.

DRC Ukraine is looking for a Demining Team Leader  based in Kharki

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure that group members constantly comply with the procedures specified in the SOP DRC.
  • Ensure that before leaving the base the group has the equipment necessary for cleaning. Ensure that before leaving the base the equipment is in working condition, as well as the availability of appropriate spare parts.
  • Every morning before starting work, personally check for signs of recent third-party interference in the area that has been cleared and which relates to the task. Instruct the members of the operating group daily before starting work. Deploy the task force locally in accordance with the DRC.
  • Constantly keep the work site under control.
  • Before starting work and during the working day, check that the paramedic keeps in touch with the DRC radio tube.
  • Must make sure that the paramedic updates the daily information about the presence of the group's personnel (on the briefing board) and informs the NVR and the radio tube of the GDS DRB.
  • Ensure that the paramedic and the driver of the ambulance always keep the car clean and tidy.
  • Instruct and ensure the safety of all visitors at the work sites. Provide daily updating of the instruction board on the site. Ensure that all reports and logs are updated daily.
  • Ensure that group members leave their cell phones and all metal and jewelry before leaving the control point. Respond to comments from QA/QA inspectors and eliminate identified deficiencies in a timely manner. Provide daily QA/QA work in accordance with the PVZ.
  • Supervise the implementation of medical evacuation exercises according to the plan developed by the paramedic.
  • Be responsible for submitting applications for the purchase of necessary materials to the head of the humanitarian demining department at least 2 weeks before the purchase.
  • Must prepare, store and monitor the availability of spare parts / equipment necessary for the work, and have a list of equipment used on the site.
  • At the end of each workflow, organize inspection, cleaning, and appropriate storage of equipment.
  • An equipment inspection report must be sent to the NVR. Notify NVR of faulty or damaged equipment.
  • Provide a complete set of documents at the demining site. Perform other tasks that are dictated by a change in circumstances or the requirements of the NVR/TR/ICC.

 

Required experience and competencies                                                                                                     

  •  Minimum 2 years of humanitarian demining or similar positions
  • Basic PC skills (MSWord, Excel)
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian, English at the elementary level.
  • Education: basic (incomplete) higher education or the level of a junior specialist. 

 

 

We offer

  • Duration of the contract: 6 months, subject to passing 3 months of probationary period and available financing of the project.
  • Level H2.
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salaries and conditions will be in line with the Conditions of Employment of the Danish Refugee Council's national staff.
