Our Vacancy
In order to strengthen and support our Climate and Natural Resources (CNR) Department, GITEC-IGIP is looking for an experienced international development Project Manager with a focus on projects in francophone Africa covering the area of rural development, climate-smart agriculture, natural resources and sustainable land management. In this position you will be responsible for technical expert input, project acquisition, technical and organizational coordination including result monitoring. You will undertake assignments in current and future projects abroad. Moreover, you will be involved in the guidance and training of local and international staff.
Main Duties in this Position
In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks both in project acquisition and in ongoing projects. This will include:

Regular follow-up with national and international stakeholders

Identification and liaison with potential partner companies and expert staff

Professional development of our African portfolio and network, and independent acquisition of projects in the region

Reporting, quality assurance, monitoring (technical, financial, organizational) in ongoing projects

Expert input for project acquisition and implementation

Coordination with GITEC-IGIP departments both in Cologne and abroad
Educational background
-
Master's degree in a relevant field (Agricultural Sciences, (Social) Geography, Sociology / Anthropology, Economics, Forestry, Livelihoods & Rural Development, or similar)
Required Expertise /Profile

Full fluency in French (native level preferred) and very good command of English

At least 10 years of professional experience

Experience in (technical and financial) management of international projects in rural development, climate-smart agriculture and natural resources management

Working experience in African countries

Very good communication and report writing skills

Knowledge of the development cooperation sector and publicly funded project landscape is an asset (e.g. KfW, EU, GIZ, World Bank, etc.)

Willingness to work on a permanent basis in Cologne, Germany
