Job Review:

The Cleaner will be responsible to report overall maintenance needs of office and guesthouse building. Additionally, take part in repairs with technicians. The position holder will be responsible for installing/uninstalling heaters in winter and cooling system in summer. The Cleaner will also carry out all cleaning, shipment of administrative items, reporting of faults and equipment malfunctions. The position holder will help the HR and Admin Assistant/ Officer to maintain a well-disciplined office and guesthouse at all times.

Generic responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated task according to plan of action
  3. Prepare status reports of assets, equipment and building as required by management
  4. Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the guest house and office buildings
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities:

 

Cleaning responsibilities:

  • Assist/supervise repair and installation of office equipment.
  • Cleaning the office and guesthouse rooms including vacuum cleaning, brushing and sweeping.
  • Maintain a well-arranged guesthouse and office building hence removing extra items, placing equipment properly and store unused items.
  • Keep office room floors, surfaces, furniture, walls, doors, windows, carpets cleaned and hygienic.
  • Regularly check the water supply, Air Conditions, Heaters and other equipment of Mazar Office and Guesthouse buildings. Report faults and seek solutions.
  • Ensure work areas are hazard-free and clean at all times.
  • Ensure that all facilities and equipment are in good condition and issues of repairs and maintenance are addressed in a timely manner
  • Flexibility to make repairs as and when required, including at weekends or evenings if required
  • Regular supply of water to all office and guesthouse dispenser and report the needs before it runs out.
  • Responsible for maintaining a well-disciplined office hall, corridors and balconies.
  • Responsible for assurance of all electric appliance are working properly including ACs, Water Supplies, Bulbs and boilers.
  • Responsible for proper maintenance of the garden and trees.
  • Keeping the compounds clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure the inclusion of cash-based interventions and market based programmes in country and area-based strategies and their implementation across and within NRC’s core competencies
  • Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cash-based interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, emergency cash responses
  • Any other legitimate task assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Cooking Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to work in the kitchen and offices instead of cook when necessary.
  • Responsible for food items and preparing lunch for all staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining the kitchen items properly
  • Responsible to have a proper record of the kitchen supplies
  • To maintain an updated lunch menu for staff
  • To procure food items from market on daily bases
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, or ladders to prepare facilities for events, such as meetings & trainings.
  • Responsible for collecting and washing the dishes
  • Responsible for checking the supplies tea, sugar etc in the office
  • Responsible for preparing tea for staff
  • Helping the cook or to arrange refreshment for trainings.

Generic professional competencies:

  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in Dari, both written and verbal are required
  • Some of knowledge of English, Pashto and Uzabeki Languages are an asset.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Baccalaureate (High School Diploma) will prefer.
  • Excellent cleaning skills
  • At least 2 years of previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts under similar role with International NGOs.
  • Initiative with long commitment for quality work.
