Sri Lanka: Business Development Support Intern

 

The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to support the GGGI Sri Lanka office in developing its country project portfolio to enhance the implementation of the green growth development agenda, investments and ambitions of the country. The Business Development Support Intern will also contribute to the management of a healthy green growth project pipeline.

 

The assignment will include the followings but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the GGGI Country Representative Sri Lanka, the Senior Fund and Business Development Officer and team members to support the development of a strong country project portfolio.
  • Conduct literature reviews and data analyses to synthesize data and support the Senior Fund and Business Development Officer to structure project proposals.
  • Prepare and assemble briefing notes and presentations for relevant meetings and discussions.
  • Engage in record keeping, minutes taking and performing follow up actions and liaison.
  • Extend support to organize and coordinate relevant meetings, events, workshops, conferences, etc., held with stakeholders.
  • Assist the project proposal development process in the integration of climate change resilience, sustainable development, social inclusion aspects.
  • Synthesize lessons learnt and best practices related to proposal development.
  • Assist in fostering innovation and inter-project coordination, cohesion and synergies in project pipeline management.
  • Assist the project pipeline development to engage in the sectoral policy dialogues taking place at national level.
  • Contribute to the engagement in donor and funding networks.
  • Assist in managing news and information from donor and funding networks.
  • Assist the team with any other duties as required regarding developing and maintaining a healthy project pipeline.  

 

ELIGIBILITY                                     

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months in Sustainability, International Relations, International Development or related field
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work
  • Possess an excellent command of English as well as national languages (Sinhala or Tamil).

 

QUALIFICATION
  • Experience in writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth/environmental science/climate change
  • Experience in content production, including report writing
  • Experience in proposal development is an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Attention to details, high sense for quality and accuracy
  • A strong team player – working in a very collegial and collaborative manner with other team members and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, and manage emotions and stress positively, and resolve conflicts easily
  • Experience in International Organizations, development agencies, or the non-profit sector would be an advantage. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral and multi-cultural team environment would be an advantage.

 

SELECTION PROCESS
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  • GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
  • Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 

Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.  

Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  

Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  

Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
