Drawing on the diversity of UNDP’s client needs and partnerships, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Bureau for Management Services (BMS) is the hub for the global HR function for UNDP, providing strategy, policy setting, guidance, and oversight. In addition, OHR provides a broad range of HR advisory and talent management services enabling UNDP to deliver fully integrated development solutions at corporate level.  In this context, OHR is focused on the implementation of an ambitious and forward-looking three-year strategy, People for 2030, which will progressively transform UNDP’s culture and enable its workforce capacity to deliver more and better results.

The Career Development Analyst – People Development plays a pivotal role in ensuring that UNDP has the right capacity to deliver on its mission through a strategic and holistic effort to build the required talent and that UNDP is progressively transformed into a learning organization with a continuous learning culture.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
The Career Development Analyst – People Development is responsible for the design and delivery of engaging foundational learning programme and initiatives. They collaborate closely with internal and external partners to offer engaging and transformative learning experiences.
 
1) Support UNDP’s Career Development portfolio
  • Design and deliver formal career development programmes to support UNDP Women career development.
  • Support digitalization of the Career Framework’s Career Paths for key roles and provide guidance on the respective development experiences.
  • Provide career development services for colleagues based in 170+ country offices and HQ. Provide personnel with opportunities and resources to build career transition skills e.g., preparation for interviews, creation of CVs, and others. 
  • Support the UNDP Global Mentoring Programme by enhancing its communication and contributing to the management of the initiative.
  • Support the management of UNDP’s Career Journey site (internal career management portal).

2) General learning programmes implementation

  • Support in identifying and targeting development opportunities as per Talent Review results and needs identified in Talent Reviews
  • Design and deliver webinars, online learning, and technology enhanced learning.
  • Support design and management of online / AI platforms related to talent development e.g., to capture current skills and skill gaps (individual and organizational level) related to the employee lifecycle, with the intent to address skill gaps through development.

3) Contribution to Research, Evaluation and Operations

  • Conduct assessments and create reports and presentations for various target groups.
  • Develop and provide regular reports and presentations for various target groups (e.g., HR, TDU,
  • HRBPs, management, staff).
  • Manage operational tasks as necessary e.g. procurement, logistics, collaboration and coordination with vendors, participant management, communications and marketing.

Required Skills and Experience
 
Education:
  • Master level degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management or other related Social Sciences; OR Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields in combination with additional 2 years of relevant experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the Master’s degree.
  • Certifications in any of the following are strong assets: learning and capability development, agile methodologies, change management, human resources, portfolio management and/or programme management.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years with Master’s degree or 4 years with Bachelor’s degree of relevant experience in the public or private sectors with increasing level of responsibility in the area of talent development and creation of a learning organization.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in designing and implementing innovative best-in-class talent development programmes and solutions in complex international entities with a globally diverse workforce.
  • Project management of learning and/or career development initiatives.
  • Coordination of stakeholders for the design and delivery of learning interventions 
  • Experience in establishing new organization-wide processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent knowledge of office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office suite: PPT, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Streams, Forms, SharePoint).
