1. General Background
PSP has been operating for over 10 years, working globally with different UNHCR regional and country offices and conducting a variety of activities to fulfil one simple primary purpose: maximize private sector funds while spreading awareness and advocating for a greater understanding of the refugee story, growing a global community in support of refugees and UNHCR.
The Supporter Engagement Section advises on, creates and delivers fundraising, communications and campaign strategies for engaging with UNHCR’s primary private sector audiences including individual supporters and donors and digital audiences. In addition, to drive marketing excellence across the organization, the SES team provides training and capacity building to PSP offices, National Partners and HQ teams.
The increased engagement of digital supporters is at the heart of UNHCR’s private-sector fundraising strategy. The digital team creates, builds, and promotes digital marketing solutions for all UNHCR’s private sector audiences as well as supports wider external engagement efforts through digital marketing tools and strategies.
This role will support key stakeholders across the organisation, to develop and implement digital marketing activities. The team is working towards an in-house media buying model of operation, therefore strong working knowledge of various marketing channels is critical for this position.
2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment
Under the overall supervision of the Digital Paid Media Marketing Officer, the individual contractor will assist in the following:
Accountability (key results that will be achieved):
Paid media campaigns management
• Build out media buys for various ad platforms and oversee the day-to-day execution of paid media for multiple markets including the International English digital Hub
• Support Digital Paid Media Marketing Officer, as well as regional offices in planning, delivering and growing multi-channel marketing campaigns globally, in multiple languages
• Set up, deploy and optimise paid media campaigns across display and programmatic (GDN, DV360) and video channels (YouTube), as well as on paid search (Google Ads and Microsoft Ads), and paid social (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and other digital channels when requested
• Building UNHCR display & video and paid social strategies and spotting opportunities for meaningful growth within the organization
• Audience research, analysis of user behaviour and overall digital performance using Google Analytics, Campaign manager and 3rd party tools to determine the most effective approach to define and reach our target audience
• Own content calendar, adjust creative assets, do necessary copywriting
• Conduct in-depth keyword and website research and ad grouping to optimise towards positive ROI
• Troubleshoot performance issues and work with internal teams to find solutions
• Do extensive testing to define best practices and optimise towards best performing creatives, placements, audiences and landing pages
• Analyse campaign performance data via Google marketing tools and internal platforms to ensure timely and efficient optimisations, and be able to present the results to stakeholders
• Support team members in doing monthly and yearly forecasting
• Work with third-party partners and agencies to implement new digital marketing solutions
• Generate innovative ideas and iterate on them to improve campaigns’ efficiency
Trafficking
• Traffic campaigns via Campaign manager for tracking purposes
Support global offices and third parties
• Develop, execute, and optimize cutting-edge digital media buying from conception to launch on behalf of PSP markets
• Support Digital marketing and paid media specialist in compiling paid media guidelines based on the performance and providing appropriate training across the organisation
• Work with global offices to provide support, advice and recommendations to ensure paid media best practices are properly implemented across all channels
• Run necessary training sessions on paid media across the organization
3. Qualifications and Experience
a. Education
• University degree (BA) -preferably Digital Marketing, Data Analysis or Business Qualifications or related field of study is required
• Google Marketing Certification is an added advantage
b. Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years’ job experience relevant to function (or 2 years in combination with a master’s degree) – agency and international experience preferred
• Hands-on, demonstratable experience in managing paid media campaigns across main digital channels: DV360, GDN or other display platforms, YouTube, as well as Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc
• Experience in managing programmatic display campaigns
• Experience within advertising operations with working knowledge of tag creation and trafficking
• Demonstratable experience of working with Google Marketing Platform stack and experience in using its tools for campaign set up and optimization
• In-depth knowledge of Campaign manager 360 capabilities
• Working knowledge of web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, and experience in working with large data sets to develop effective marketing strategies
• Solid understanding of digital performance marketing, conversion, and online donor acquisition
• Proven case studies of delivering successful campaigns
• Experience working with Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Desirable
• Experience in using Google Optimize for A/B and Multivariate testing
• Knowledge of Google Tag manager
• Understanding of agile principles and tools – Trello / JIRA or similar
• Experience of working with external marketing/media buying agencies
• Project management experience including planning and schedule creation for digital marketing campaigns

4. Location and conditions
The successful candidate will be based in the UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark. There is also the possibility of remote working for the incumbent and be based at the home location.
This position is initially up to the end of the year with possibility of extension subject to budget availability and overall performance of the incumbent. It is a full-time role starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
