SENIOR ASSISTANT

ICRISAT seeks applications from motivated candidates for the position of  Senior Assistant in Transport Services as part of the Corporate Services Program. The incumbent will be part of the Transport Services department and will report to the Transport Supervisor. The position is based at ICRISAT Headquarters in Patancheru, Telangana.

ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi- arid or dryland tropics has over 2 billion people and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower these disadvantaged populations to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agricultural production systems.

ICRISAT is headquartered at Patancheru near Hyderabad, India, with two regional hubs and eight country offices in sub-Saharan Africa. ICRISAT envisions a prosperous, food-secure and resilient dryland tropics. Its mission is to reduce poverty, hunger, malnutrition and environmental degradation in the dryland tropics. ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops of chickpea, pigeonpea, groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet in the arid and semi-arid tropics. The Institute focuses its work on the drylands and in protecting the environment. Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Responsibilities: 

·At least 5 years of work experience as a driver in a reputed organization 

·Valid driving license (Both heavy and light vehicles)

·Experience in driving high end cars (both Automatic and                       Manual) with a safe driving record 

·Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol           and courtesies, local roads and conditions 

·Have good defensive driving skills and also in minor vehicle                 repairs 

·Providing logistical support when required 

·Managing data, documents, correspondence and reports 

·Managing information and work flow 

·Planning, organizing and multitasking 

·Ensure that the relevant rules and regulations of the Institute are         adhered at all times.

Eligibility and Qualifications:

·The candidate should hold a Senior Secondary Certificate

·Should possess a valid Heavy Driving license & Light Motor Vehicle

·Physical fitness with clear vision (without spectacles)

·Should be a good team player and have experience working in multicultural team.

·Understanding of policies and procedures governing the management of motorized assets and due compliance.

·Good communication skills in Telugu, English and Hindi both written and speaking.

·Should be willing to work in shifts.

General:

This position is a contractual position for a period of 24 months (2 years) extended based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position.
