| Overview of position |
Within delegated authority, the Programme Assistants will be responsible for the following duties (not all inclusive, nor exhaustive): |
| Role objectives |
- Focal Point for South: Plan and manage WFP field operations within the Southern region of Libya, namely Al Jufrah, Ash Shati, Ghat, Sabha, Murzuq and Wadi Al Hayaa, to facilitate effective and efficient delivery of food assistance and timely solutions of daily operational issues; - Daily reporting: Consolidate daily updates on Programme, Security and other key issues and report them to her/his immediate supervisor, WFP Libya Security, WFP Tripoli-based Programme Associate, WFP Libya Head of Programme and WFP Libya Partnership Coordinator; - Monitoring: Conduct timely monitoring of activities and prepare accurate and evidence-based reports on WFP’s operations and performance, while following up the actions to be taken based on monitoring findings and/or beneficiaries’ feedbacks; - Partnership: Build effective and collaborative relations with local authorities, UN agencies and potential/existing partners of WFP in the Southern region of Libya; - Communications: Be present at WFP’s activity sites as much as possible to present WFP’s messages to beneficiaries in the Eastern region of Libya (e.g. targeting criteria; hotline) and to share their stories with other WFP Libya colleagues; - Mobility: frequently visit sites outside of Sabha City, participate in e-meetings with other colleagues and partners in different duty stations, and, under the authorization from his/her supervisors and WFP Libya Country Director, make him/herself available to physical meetings in Tripoli, Tunis and other locations; |

| Further information |
· Has one year or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development. · Has facilitated communication with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.). · Has contributed to implementation of programmes. · Has observed or assisted with policy discussions. · Has general knowledge of information management best practices, techniques and processes with some understanding of the basic theoretical background; Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills; Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly assimilate, UN/WFP specific processes and systems. · Holds Libyan nationality or legal work permit in Libya. |
