Organizational Context:
UNDP is looking for passionate young talent to contribute to Bangladesh at this exciting and transitional time when the country is becoming a middle-income and prosperous society and being recognized as a champion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, the impact of natural and man-made disasters often impedes the progress of such development, as such preparedness for Disaster is key to retain the development gains for sustainable development.
As a part of national capacity building for effective disaster management, under the Training, Drills, and Exercises (TED) of Urban Resilience Program (URP) DDM Part, UNDP has been imparting training to high officials of six agencies which include officials from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), Department of Disaster Management, Fire Service and Civil Defense(FSCD), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC); Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC ) and Sylhet City Corporation(SCC). UNDP has substantially completed the major portion of the training as of date. Various training on Emergency management for an instant, Emergency Operational Plan, INSARAG and IAEM training, EOC management, and relevant tabletop exercises has been conducted under this program. Local-level disaster management largely depends on certain local organizational response and their coordination mechanism.
