Atlas is a non-profit start-up based in Prague, Czechia, but operating remotely as a group of volunteers who believe in improving the media landscape worldwide. We work hard for what we believe in, on our own time and schedule. Because of our locations and individual schedules we often have to be self-driven and self-reliant, so we look for independent individuals who do not require heavy supervision.

About the Role

We are looking for a new Content Researcher to assist with creating additional content for our website. The ideal candidate has experience in researching and creating content about international relations, politics, global issues and other related topics. They are also passionate about our cause and what we do. We work hard for what we believe in, on our own time and schedule. Because of our locations and individual schedules, we often have to be self-driven and self-reliant, so we look for independent individuals who are able to be self-motivated.

Minimum requirements

●      1 year’s previous experience working with creating, researching and publishing online content.

●      Master’s Degree or relevant research experience demonstrating the ability to critically evaluate suitability and quality of sources.

●      Background in social sciences or area studies.

●      Excellent command of English.

●      Good communication skills.

●      Excellent attention to detail.

●      Ability to work both independently and in a team

What can you expect:

A team to build and lead, and an opportunity to become a long-term member of Atlas. After working in this volunteer position successfully you get a chance to turn it into a paid, long-term contract. Internal members of our association structure receive full voting rights on the organisation's governance, strategic goals, partners, financial and other decisions. When it comes to workflow, you will be receiving assistance from our leadership as well as from other members of your team who are well versed in their respective fields. Some of our more experienced volunteers would be happy to provide mentorship when needed.

What we expect from you:

Primary Duties:

●      Researching, formatting and publishing Further Resource databases of audiovisual and educational content to supplement our main encyclopaedic entries

●      Researching, formatting and publishing Images to illustrate our encyclopaedic entries

Other Possible Duties

●      Researching for other data formats such as infographics, timelines etc.

●      Assisting with website updates

●      Other ad hoc content related tasks as needed based on interests, expertise and availability

It will be a bonus if you have:

●      Knowledge of existing audiovisual and educational resources related to our topics.

●      Experience illustrating online content

●      Experience with academic journals and encyclopaedias

●      Expertise in Russia or Ukraine

●      Knowledge of an additional languages.
