Job Purpose
The program Assistant will assist the operations team in daily activities by providing translation services for the international delegates and support for meetings, reports and other documentation; will support liaison activities with URCS local branch and external stakeholders as required .
Additionally, the Program Assistant will assist the local URCS branch in supporting ad hoc activities, when his/her support for main translation or interpretation is not required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility 1 (70%)
Translation/Interpretation and program support
- Provide basic translations in meetings and other events to the delegates
- Prepare meeting minutes in both Ukrainian and English
- Translate reports, maps, infographics, and other document from English to Ukrainian and vice versa as needed.
- Help the international delegates to gather some information for reporting, coordination purposes as required.
- Support delegate team with clerical and admin tasks when necessary (hotel bookings, logistics of visitors, etc.)
- Accompany delegates in field trips within the Cherkasy oblasts (and occasionally in other parts of Ukraine when needed and if security context allows it).
Responsibility 2 (30%)
Liaison with URCS branches and stakeholders and URCS branch support
- Support delegate team in liaising with URCS branch and external stakeholders, especially when delegates are not present in Cherkasy
- Provide ad hoc support to the URCS branch during their activities, when time allows or as prioritized by the program manager.
Any other reasonable tasks requested by program manager and within the capacities and scope of the work.

- Actively work towards the achievement of the Canadian Red Cross and Federation Secretariat’s goals.
- Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles.
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (any discipline) - Preferred.
- High School Diploma - Required.
Experience
- Experience in translation or administrative role - Required.
- Experience of data entry, processing and quality control - Preferred.
- Work or volunteering experience with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement or other humanitarian or development organization - Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Languages
- Good knowledge of IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Native or bilingual proficiency in Ukrainian.
- Proficient spoken and written English.
