Role Overview

The Financial Reporting Analyst’s role is critical for Medair’s finance data driven reporting. As a key member of the Finance Team, working closely with IT department. This role will lead on the design of finance/financial management reports and reporting for different stakeholders, gathering requirements, designing and rolling out finance business intelligence reporting to end users. It also entails capacity building of users to fully use the reports

Project Overview

Medair Global Support Office (GSO) provides operational guidance for country programmes, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. Within the GSO and affiliate offices, we are also responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes, and to recruit international and GSO staff.
The Medair GSO Finance Department, is primarily focused on Medair financial and investment decisions, acts as a financial gatekeeper and strategic advisor in daily business operation and also mid to long-term strategic decisions of Medair, with streamlined and optimized key processes, via leveraging a fit-for-purpose system.

Key Activity Areas

Financial Management Business Intelligence Development

  • Understand, design & implement visually appealing multi-faceted financial reports and dashboards according to finance requirements
  • Design and produce financial modelling for financial planning
  • Design & publish comprehensive and understandable finance business performance indicator dashboards for finance end users
  • Create tools to analyze & find finance trends from various data coming from our systems & Country programmes
  • Create finance scripts or batches to consolidate diverse data sources in a coherent manner
  • Provide guidance and advice on data quality issues to process owners
  • Contribute to data-driven decision-making for Finance  

Financial Report Design and Support

  • Lead in coordinating the development of improved / new finance reports to meet different stakeholder needs (budget holders, IPD, ELT, Board)
  • Coordinate with finance team and budget holders for the detailed and correct financial information requirements
  • Coordinate with Data Engineer to ensure required financial data for reporting is available, complete and accurate 
  • Work with end users to ensure the ease of use, and understanding of the finance reports / dashboard created
  • Collaborate with finance teams in the implementation of new finance reports through direct training to end users of finance reports

Innovation/change

  • Propose and develop innovative ideas to improve Financial management information to drive organization insights for proactive operational and strategic decision making 
  • Champion the use and optimization of new finance system to automate financial reports for operational efficiencies
  • Lead or participate in relevant digital / ERP projects to improve Finance performance in collaboration with the Data Engineer where required

Leadership

  • Contribute to delivering the vision of finance digital transformation (automate, streamline and simplified processes, financial insights with data integrity), ensuring cost optimization and efficiency of processes, systems and tools in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Manager where required.
  • Work in close collaboration with Medair Finance leaders to ensure optimum use of UNIT4 Finance system for effective financial management across Medair
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the global finance function to ensure an integrated approach, mutual learning and effective use of resources
  • Ensure transparent and timely communication flows between all relevant stakeholders

Qualifications

  • University and/or Bachelor degree in accounting /business/Information Systems
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written); French is a plus

Relief & Recovery Orientation Course (ROC)

What is the ROC and why is it required?

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as financial/business analyst/finance modelling in finance department of complex org.
  • Experience of gathering, interpreting and implementing client requirements
  • Experience within an NGO preferred
  • Report/dashboard development skills in common BI software programmes, (e.g QlikView, QlikSense, Jet Reporting, BI Cube, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Advance working SQL knowledge (preferably Snowflakes) and experience working with relational databases, query authoring tools
  • Knowledge in ERP systems is a plus Unit4 ERPx, PowerApps platform, Salesforce, etc
  • Extensive experience of developing, debugging and testing SQL scripts
  • Good understanding of data models and data-analysis programmes
  • Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-driven reports
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to help solve business problems and make decisions
  • Ability to communicate clearly synthetized solution of complex problems
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement, attention to small details that could impact results
  • Training and Capacity building of users in how to develop their own reports
  • Ability to work in a team, work effectively in a variety of situations
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely to finance and non-finance teams
  • Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-starter and self-learner; willingness to help with other jobs as needed
