Mission and objectives

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new Strategic Plan (2022-2025), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning, and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff/volunteers, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction. UNFPA Cambodia’s 6th Country Programme (CP) 2019 – 2023 has three outcomes (i) sexual and reproductive health and rights; (ii) adolescents and youth; and (iii) population dynamics and data, with gender as a cross-cutting programmatic focus. The 6th UNFPA country programme signals a transition towards upstream policy support to the Royal Government of Cambodia and would therefore have more dedicated resources and capacities to provide strategic guidance and analysis in its respective outcome areas.

Context

UNFPA provides a work environment that reflects the values of gender equality, teamwork, embracing diversity in all its forms, integrity and a healthy balance of work and life. We are committed to maintaining our balanced gender distribution and therefore encourage women and men equally. UNFPA promotes equal opportunities for all. UNFPA’s global strategy focuses on 3 Zeros: Zero Maternal deaths, Zero Unmet need for Family Planning and Zero Gender-based violence (GBV). Social media and media campaigns assist in advocacy, information sharing and resource mobilization to assist target population. Campaigns normally have multiple objectives including advocacy, partnerships and information sharing. The online volunteer will assist remotely by helping UNFPA Cambodia leverage its social media and outreach in an organized manner through multiple platforms. Specifically, the online volunteer will support the social media and advocacy for the Cambodia UNFPA country office and the development of a futures campaign aimed at youth in Cambodia entitled, “The Future We Want”. This assignment will contribute to SDG Np. 1, 3, 4,5, 10, 16 and 17.
