Global Evergreening Alliance

The Global Evergreening Alliance (GEA) is a dynamic global organisation that seeks to address climate change, food insecurity, poverty, and land degradation by promoting large-scale adoption of evergreen agriculture, agroforestry, and land restoration practices. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers while enhancing biodiversity and mitigating climate change.

At the Global Evergreening Alliance, we believe that the solution to the world's greatest challenges lies in nature-based solutions. Through our global network of members, we are developing innovative evergreening practices that are sustainable, scalable, and cost-effective. Our work is grounded in the belief that the restoration of degraded landscapes can bring multiple benefits, including carbon sequestration, soil fertility improvement, water conservation, and enhanced biodiversity.

GEA has recently commenced the implementation of Restore Africa, a large community-based land restoration project in six East and Southern African countries, whereby 1.8 million hectares of lands will be restored through agroforestry and sustainable land management practices. We are currently co-designing several land restoration projects in Southeast Asia and West, East and Southern Africa which will start in the latter half of 2023 and 2024.

Scope

To strengthen our project portfolio, we are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from consultants with expertise in Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU) land restoration projects, with a focus on agroforestry and sustainable land management.

We are seeking experienced consultants who can provide innovative solutions and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Modelling of carbon sequestration in soil and vegetation.
  • Preparation of (pre) feasibility assessments.
  • Development of the required documentation for certification under international carbon standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard, the Gold Standard for Global Goals and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard.
  • Monitoring, Reporting and Verification, including remote sensing solutions.
  • Community and biodiversity.

Interested consultants should have a proven track record in designing, implementing, and monitoring AFOLU projects. They should have a deep understanding of international nature-based -solution markets, relevant methodologies and protocols, and possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in working with consortia of NGO-partners is a plus.

We are particularly keen to hear from consultants with experience in AFOLU projects in Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia, and who are based in those regions.

We welcome submissions from individual consultants as well as consulting firms.
