About the position:
Dexis is seeking to hire a Senior Business Development Technical Writer to lead and support proposal efforts within its Implementation and Learning Division (ILD). ILD implements field-based technical advisory services to U.S. federal clients in stabilization, agriculture/economic growth, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL). The role requires Business Development experience with the U.S. Government, particularly the United States for Agency for International Development. This position can be onsite or remote.

Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Lead and/or support pre-positioning and capture efforts, including capture trips, technical research, partnership development, and pre-drafting of content.
  • Conduct field visits to meet with key stakeholders, local partners, US Government representatives, other donors, beneficiaries, potential recruit candidates, and others, as appropriate.
  • Serve as the lead technical author for the company’s highest priority proposals, helping to achieve the company’s annual revenue goals.
  • Lead or serve as a key contributor on strategy sessions to define win themes, technical approach, and related staffing, teaming, and price-to-win strategy.
  • Edit the company’s highest-priority proposals for clarity, logic, and responsiveness to client requirements.

Leadership:

  • Serve as a key reviewer, providing constructive feedback to other technical writers.
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff to perform major proposal writing roles.
  • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic vision for the ILD division, including building new business pipelines, and partner relationships, and identifying/securing new work.
  • Interact with internal stakeholders to advise on and improve Business Development policies, practices, and workflows.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least twelve (12) years of professional experience, eight (8) of which should be with a USAID contractor, non-profit organization, or similarly focused entities seeking USG funding.
  • Proven track record designing, writing, editing, and winning, complex USAID and other USG agency proposals.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to successfully capture concepts in clear, concise, and direct language.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail in drafting responsive and compliant proposals.
  • Experience on all elements of a proposal and understanding how they impact one another.
  • Proven leadership skills to delegate and empower proposal team members, mentor all levels of staff, and provide quality oversight of proposal deliverables.
  • Proven ability to solicit and synthesize inputs from multiple sources and develop convincing and compelling proposal sections.
  • Ability to collaborate successfully in a remote working environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical familiarity in stabilization strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce and/or SharePoint preferred.
