Context
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Through the generous support of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), UN Women, in partnership with the Government of Egypt, is rolling out a three-year women’s economic empowerment project focused on expanding the way in which private sector is attracting, retaining and investing in women; and supporting young women’s active participation in the labour market. In all components of the project, the focus will also be on ensuring greater community level support for young women’s employment in non-traditional markets.
