Project Overview
JSI India has been commissioned to provide technical assistance to MoHFW for COVID-19 vaccine introduction and roll-out in India. JSI India is providing technical support to the Immunization Division of the MoHFW (COVID-19 Vaccine Support Cell) and collaborating with immunization partners to help accelerate the implementation and scaling up of the COVID-19 vaccine introduction activities. JSI India has established a Control Room for providing technical assistance in terms of development of training guidelines, capacity building, data management, communication strategies, evidence generation etc. for vaccine readiness. JSI India also manages the AEFI surveillance to ensure safe roll-out of COVID-19 vaccine throughout the country.
Job Summary
The Research Associate – Surveillance is required to support the Program Specialist - Surveillance in designing, coordinating and implementing an active Adverse Events of Special Interest (AESI) Surveillance System for COVID19 vaccines through a network of medical colleges across India. Findings from the surveillance system will contribute to vaccine safety profiles of COVID19 vaccinesand inform emerging vaccine safety issues for taking appropriate action. The incumbent is required to work with a dedicated team at Covid 19 Project with JSIPL, New Delhi, and also coordinate with nodal officers and staff atthe sentinel sites.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate is responsible for supporting the active AESI surveillance team in:
- Conducting review of literature related to vaccine safety, COVID19 vaccines, AESIs, etc.
- Put together evidences from the literature review into dossiers for reference
- Conducting Technical Advisory Committee meetings and documenting minutes
- Giving technical inputs to the study tools and software for data collection
- Undertake field visits to sentinel sites for monitoring and training
- Coordinate with site staff for updates and managing logistics, other issues at the sentinel sites
- Analyze data regularly, interpret findings and generate draft reports for publication, create presentations and documentation
- Day-to-day management of the study
- Any other work assigned by JSI India
Qualifications and Skills
JSI India seeks a results-oriented individual with the ability to support the team in managing multiple concurrent tasks and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail. The successful candidate is required to have:
- A BDS/BHMS/BAMS/BPT with MPH and at least two years of experience in health sector
- Experience in conducting literature searches and literature review critically with ability to cull out key relevant evidences
- Working in the areas of Immunization, especially on active surveillance would be an asset
- Evidence of research and documentation skills in the form of articles published in peer-reviewed journals, contributions to reports, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to network, build partnerships, work harmoniously in multi- cultural team environment
- Moving forward in a changing environment; ensuring the effective use of resources, team player
- Excellent computer skills, especially in operating MS Office (Word-processing, spreadsheets, and presentation).
- Good command of English and Hindi - both written and spoken.
