Mission and objectives

ABC In Indonesia, UN Women works with government, civil society organizations, academia, the media, the public and private sectors to address national priorities of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Placing the advancement of women’s rights at the centre of our work, UN Women Indonesia focuses on: Ending Violence Against Women UN Women Indonesia works with a range of stakeholders to increase awareness of the causes and consequences of violence against women, while also building the capacity of partners for policy reform to prevent and respond to this violence. We advocate for changing norms and behaviour as a prevention strategy to tackle violence against women. Women, Peace and Security UN Women Indonesia aims to empower women to contribute to better, safer, and more peaceful communities. We promote localized model based on women’s leadership to promote peace and tolerance, strengthening key actors and youth. Women’s Economic Empowerment UN Women Indonesia works with a range of stakeholders, including private sectors, to support women economic empowerment by providing access to skill development, resources and enabling environment to increase women’s participation in the economy.

Context

UN Women Indonesia Country Office (CO) hosts the ASEAN liaison office, which extends support to ASEAN and its Member States in advancing the WPS agenda in line with global normative frameworks. In 2021, UN Women Indonesia in partnership with ASEAN launched a five-year project, ‘Empowering Women for Sustainable Peace: Preventing Violence and Promoting Social Cohesion in ASEAN’ (the Regional Project). This Regional Project funded by the Governments of Canada, the Government of United Kingdom and the Republic of Ko-rea supports efforts by ASEAN and its ten Member States to promote women's participation and leadership in conflict prevention, resolution and recovery. Although the Project largely focuses on advancing normative frameworks, capacity building, and exchange of knowledge and good practices at the regional level, it also includes a country-level component in support of the national implementation of the WPS agenda.

Task description

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be under the supervision of the Programme Coordination Specialist ASEAN - Women Peace. The post holder will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the regional programme ‘Empowering women for sustainable peace: preventing violence and promoting social cohesion in ASEAN’. More specifically, the UNV will be entrusted with the following tasks: 1. Strengthen capacities of UN Women staff and responsible parties of the programme on results-based monitoring and reporting. 2. Develop monitoring tools, where needed. 3. Analyse data 4. Update the risk register 5. Update the results monitoring matrix 6. Develop monitoring tools to track the implementation of the regional programme 7. Conduct primary data collection and secondary data collection; analysis of data 8. Inform the management team of evidence-based monitoring findings. 9. Regularly monitor the indicators of the programme 10. Update the M&E plan. 11. Support to undertake regular monitoring of the intervention, mid-term evaluation and end programmes evaluations; 12. Support the management of independent midterm and final evaluations 13. Contribute to new resource mobilization initiatives by ensuring strong results-based logical frameworks. 14. Provide support to the drafting of Donor reports and UN Women’s Annual Report and quarterly reports 15. Document and share lessons learned on various programs and prepare reports; 16. Perform other duties as may be required. 17. Keep updated the beneficiary and stakeholders database 18. Oversee the implementation of midterm review and evaluation management responses Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
