Organizational Context:
With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Main duties:
Works with a senior level professional to assist in developing, implementing and providing technical support in hardware and software implementation for the UPU's GMS-related software platform, as well as vertical applications for its scientific/analytical product lines.

1. Installation
- Carries out RFID equipment configuration prior to its installation
- Performs RFID equipment tests against user requirements
- Supervises the full cycle of maintenance of RFID equipment
- Performs maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.

2. Maintenance
- Carries out system and hardware maintenance tasks through a network management system, such as running network monitoring, system diagnostics, system optimization and system protection to ensure technology is running effectively
- Maintains technology, including standard installation, configuration, and data storage, in accordance with the configuration document and the local guideline/standard
- Troubleshoots system errors, runs routine diagnostics, document problems and resolutions, and assesses impact of systems issues.
- Replies to queries to ensure that accurate information is provided to stakeholders.

3. Training
- Handles end users by means of training and supports on-site and remotely
- Provides standard technical training and materials to end users of commonly used technology and systems
- Maintains training content and materials

4. Contract management
- Assists in managing contracts with RFID providers
- Monitors the performance of RFID providers based on several key performance indicators
- Performs quality control for RFID equipment supplied by contractors
- Prepares reports about contractors performance
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, engineering, data analytic, statistics or economies
Experience:
At least two years' experience in the RFID network management (network administration, installation, configuration and maintenance). Some experience working in the UN system or postal sector would be an asset.
Technical knowledge:
1. Experience in network administration
2. Experience in server installation, configuration and maintenance
3. Experience in RFID system implementation
Skills and abilities / competencies:
1. Ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies and operational problems.
2. Ability to work under stress and manage priorities
3. Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately
4. Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
5. Confidentiality and discernment of sensitive data
Language skills:
Proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge of French would be an asset.
Additional Information:
This is a non-core post. This position will be in full compliance with the "Rules governing non-core staff", which expressly exclude some international benefits (home leave, installation grant, education grant and eligibility to a continuing appointment).

The selected staff will participate in the UPU Provident Scheme and will be insured together with their recognized dependents against the risks of sickness and accidents.

This is a one year contract which can be renewed if the services continue to be required in the future, the funds are available and/or the staff member's performance is satisfactory. However, this appointment does not automatically carry any expectancy of extension or renewal or of conversion to any other type of appointment.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
50,377 USD
Post adjustment: 81.6 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.

The conditions of service are governed by the Staff Regulations and Rules of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union.
