Junior Expert Program Development*

in Phnom Penh 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. Employment location will be Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with frequent travel to the project locations. The position is remunerated with 2.810 €. 

As Junior Expert Program Development in our Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Country Office in Cambodia, you will support the Head of Project and the entire project team in the implementation of educational activities in the country. You will foster environmental awareness, promote nature conservation and support sustainable development through experiential learning. In doing so, you will further develop the capacity of the Youth Empowerment Academy (YEP-Academy) program and standardize training manuals, toolboxes, assessment tools and reflection methods. Depending on the overall development of the YEP-Academy, further engagement in another country might be possible and desirable.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of educational programs for youth in Cambodia

  • Support the planning and organization of educational activities, including field trips, camping, hiking, nature observation, and other experiential learning opportunities

  • Conduct events for participants and facilitators on nature education techniques and best practices

  • Develop educational materials, including handouts, manuals, toolboxes, and multimedia resources to support nature education programs

  • Assist in standardizing evaluations on the effectiveness of outdoor and nature education programs and making recommendations for improvement

  • Prepare regular reports on project implementation and maintain records of program activities, participant feedback and budget expenditures

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices

  • Contribute to the overall development of the YEP-Academy strategy in line with WHH best practices and global partnerships

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in Education, Environmental Science or related field 

  • First job-related experience in international development and nature education, e.g. as part of an internship or previous work experience

  • Hands-on experience in designing, implementing and evaluating outdoor and nature education programs for youth

  • Initial experience working in Asia or knowledge of Asian cultures and educational systems

  • Thematic and scientific experiences with transformative learning would be an advantage

  • Strong competence in intercultural communication and teamwork

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • High level of flexibility, adaptability as well as stress resilience

  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for travelling to Welthungerhilfe`s program countries

  • Excellent spoken and written in English and German; Khmer language skills would be an advantage
