The incumbent should have the flexibility to adapt to frequent changes in workdays and schedules at short notice and should have good communication skills. The incumbent is required to professionally manage stressful situations in the field, maintaining respectful interpersonal relations working with a diverse workforce from different cultural backgrounds.
The incumbent should have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo a practical driving test, only the successful candidates in the practical test will be invited for an oral interview.

The incumbent will be reporting to the Head of the Field Unit, Berhale. Besides driving, the driver is responsible for upkeeping and maintaining of the assigned UNHCR vehicle(s) as per technical guidance and specifications established by the Organization. S/he is required to follow strict instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor. While the basic function of a driver is to drive the official vehicles of UNHCR, s/he may be called upon to perform minor maintenance and repair of UNHCR vehicles. This position is planned to be situated in Berhale, under the UNHCR FO Semera that reports to Sub-Office in Mekelle. Barahle Refugee Camp is one of the two camps in Afar operation: Aysaita and Barahle camps, 115 km from Mekelle City and 500 km from Samara handling Afar-Eritreans refugees who fled from Eritrea. The Field Unit reports to FO Semera. A total of 22,398 refugees has been registered and undergo L3 standards. Out of the total population, 13,627 refugees are living in Dalool and Erebti woreda, settled in three settlements: Adiqua, Ayne-Deeb and Erebti (non-camp locations, living with the host community). Almost 53% of the total population are female while 19% of the population encompasses youth. More than half of the population, 60% are children, aged below 18 years. The average F/S in Afar operation is 4.6 individuals. Recently, the number of IDP 'S from Afar has increased at a growing rate following the conflict in Tigray and the surroundings, especially in Afar and Amhara regions. Due to lack of communication in the operation, it has been difficult to distinguish the exact number of figures and breakdown of current IDP 'S and this leads to major challenges in mitigating the issues of IDP 'S. The FO Semera are closely monitoring the situation of IDP 'S at regional, Semera level with the close collaboration of sister agencies lead by OCHA for close intervention nonetheless shortage of staff and operational gaps are the major challenges for better intervention.The Driver has regular contacts with staff within the UNHCR Office and with others outside UNHCR involving a limited exchange of information. The incumbent of the position is expected to be familiar with the region and have excellent knowledge of the local language where he will perform the driver duties. Basic knowledge of English would be an asset.Living and Working Conditions:
Berhale is a town in north-eastern Ethiopia. Located in the Administrative Zone 2 of the Afar Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of 13 °51 ¿N 40 °01 ¿E with an altitude of 639 meters above sea level. It is the largest town in Berhale woreda. Not only the topography of the camp challenged the operational for protection intervention, but the hot weather reached 40C between June-July. Almost all Afar population are 99 % Muslim including the persons of concern. Basic services are purchased from Mekelle (before closure of the road) and currently from Abaala and Semera town which is 70KM and 500 km from Barahle respectively. UNHCR has guesthouse and office in the operation.Additional Qualifications
