Organizational Setting

The National Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture Program, established in 2018, consists of a set of initiatives, among them the Pedagogical Gardens Project, which consists of installing/maintaining vegetable gardens in school communities with the purpose of promoting improvements in the food, educational context and behavior of students. This assignment is aimed at developing a new module to compose the online course 'Management of Pedagogical Gardens' aimed at teachers, essential to reinforce in the Distance Learning Course Management of Pedagogical Gardens the importance of including PHP in the School's Pedagogical Political Project (PPP), based on participatory construction (shared management); as well as the countless possibilities of using the vegetable garden as a didactic and pedagogical tool.

The incumbent reports to the Assistant to Representative in FAO Brasil – Programas


Technical Focus

The purpose of the hire: to develop a new module to compose the online course 'Management of Pedagogical Gardens' aimed at teachers.


Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of this assignment, the incumbent will carry out the following activities:
• Prepare a Work Plan, in accordance with the model established by FAO, containing the development strategy for all consulting products, which must be delivered together with the first product to be presented.
• Participate in meetings with technicians and managers involved in the theme, as well as with the Embrapa Vegetables team.
• Carry out bibliographical research on the use of the vegetable garden as a didactic-pedagogical tool.
• Conduct a survey of initiatives already developed by teachers to use the garden as a didactic-pedagogical tool.
• Gather, analyze and systematize the information collected on teaching-learning practices based on the use of the garden as a didactic-pedagogical tool, in agreement with the technical team (Ministry and Embrapa Vegetables).
• Develop products in the form of technical documents with elements for proposing practices and strategies that can compose the course module for teachers.
• Present the module intended for teachers on the Moodle Platform, following the pattern already established for the course.
• Develop graphic design of didactic handout with the module content.


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy or Degree in any area
• Professional experience, at least 5 years, as an elementary school teacher
• Working knowledge of Portuguese and limited knowledge of English.
• Brazilian Nationality or other legally authorized to work in Brazil
