We are looking for an engaged National Representative who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment. 

 

The Scope 

FSC International is currently looking for a FSC National Representative that will formally represent FSC in Türkiye and lead activities and projects in close cooperation with relevant local stakeholders from the forestry sector, public, private, NGO sector, the FSC membership. The FSC National Representative will be part of the European Regional Team and all relevant activities will be coordinated and aligned with the FSC Regional Director for Europe. 

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities 

  • To represent FSC in Türkiye and build relationships with key stakeholders, including certificate holders, governmental institutions and NGOs and to lead the development of FSC in Türkiye 
  • To analyze and seize growth opportunities for FSC in Türkiye in the relevant value chains  
  • To provide necessary guidance and support to key stakeholders of the FSC Scheme in Türkiye.   
  • To oversee the ongoing development of the controlled wood risk assessments in Türkiye and support the effective and efficient implementation by the forest industry.  
  • To Organize workshops, seminars, events in cooperation with interested certificate holders/ stakeholders. 
  • To promote and support growth of FSC members in the Türkiye. 
  • To lead the development of a national strategy for FSC in Türkiye in collaboration with the European regional team and based on the FSC Global Strategy.   
  • To coordinate international membership engagement activities.  
  • To work with existing and potential Promotional License Holders in Türkiye 
  • To oversee the Budget for FSC in Türkiye and identify additional funding opportunities for FSC in Türkiye 

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills 

Working Education and Training:  

  • University degree in forestry or an equivalent combination of education/vocational training and work experience relevant for the roles and responsibilities of this function. 
  • Continuous professional development in one or more of the following areas: Forestry, facilitation, project management, communication, engagement. 

Working Experience, Style and Skills:  

  • At least 5 years of professional and practical experience of forest management in Turkey 
  • Sound understanding of the scope of FSC’s programs, activities, policies and standards. 
  • Understanding of commercial forest product value chain needs and market forces. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Solid understanding of integrity and credibility challenges within supply chains. 
  • Service oriented attitude to work. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Proven ability to plan and organize work. 

Languages:  

  • Fluency in Turkish (spoken and written).  
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).  
  • Computer Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with: 
  • Standard software packages (MS Office). 

Communication Skills:  

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Respectful and friendly communication with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Active-listening skills. 
  • Experience in communicating with the media.  
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations. 

Others: 

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team. 
  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.  
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.

Terms and Conditions 

  • Location: Ankara or Istanbul, Turkey.  
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week. 
  • Contract: Service and License agreement 
  • Duration of Employment: 2 years (extension possible)  
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible. 
  • Travel: Frequent national travel and occasional international travel is required.
