Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership committed to saving children's lives and protecting people's health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. The Vaccine Alliance brings together implementing country and donor governments, the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sector partners. Gavi uses innovative finance mechanisms, including co-financing by recipient countries, to secure sustainable funding and adequate supply of quality vaccines. Since 2000, Gavi has contributed to the immunisation of more than 981 million children and the prevention of more than 15 million future deaths.
Department Role:
The Investments team manages over a $1+ billion assets to support Gavi’s mission. The long-term portfolio includes asset classes in Equity, Fixed Income, Diversifiers and Private Assets. All the assts are managed through external commingled funds. The Investments team ensures that the long-term portfolio is structured appropriately to balance return, risk, liquidity and diversification and to meet Gavi’s standards for governance and sustainability. This internship provides an opportunity to learn about the strategic and operational activities of portfolio management.

Key functions and deliverables:
- Enhance automation and data analytics in the investment process.
- Improve data security for performance reporting.
- Support research projects underpinning sustainable investment policy.
- Past experience in completing projects in data analysis and Visual Basic for Applications
- Strong communications skills, oral and written
- Highly analytical and efficient
- Aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Extensive skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Excel Macros)
- Skills in Visual Basic and HTML
- Basic familiarity with financial concepts and performance calculations
- Comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders with maturity
- English, high fluency
- French, fluency is a plus but not required
- Undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Preference for analytical / quantitative studies in computer science, finance, economics
- Strong academic credentials
