Position Title: Technical Officer

Location of work: Office of the DHS, Pune, Govt of Maharashtra with frequent travel to Project Intervention Districts in Maharashtra and may be relocated to anywhere as per programmatic requirement.

About Project:

CHRI is currently recruiting a Technical Officer for supporting control & prevention of Dengue & Chikungunya and elimination of malaria in the State of Maharashtra and will be based at Pune. The Technical officer will work under supervision of Sr Technical Officer for providing technical support for planning, implementation, monitoring of the program for prevention and control of dengue and elimination of malaria.

Scope Of Work:

Public Health Portfolio:

• Will support the technical work pertaining to elimination of Malaria and control prevention of Dengue in the endemic districts under guidance of Sr technical officer, maintaining excellent collaboration with government program officers at various levels in the project intervention district.
• Participate in the development of the overall strategy in intervention districts including gap identification and suggestion for appropriate action.
• Work on any other task assigned as per the project requirement by the Sr technical officer.

Leadership:

• Participate in meetings, and other events in key Stakeholder conversations locally.
• Collaborate with Key District Health authorities (CMO, ACMO, DMO, District magistrate, Divisional commissioner, and partners) for successful implementation of the dengue prevention and control and elimination of malaria activities and share the progress to Sr technical Officer.
• Will guide and work closely with FHI360 (another GCPL CSR Grantee) for various ground level activities pertaining to elimination of malaria in the focused districts.
• Establish linkage with the private hospitals and practitioners for sharing line listing of Dengue and malaria cases to the govt reporting system.

Duties and responsibilities:

• The Technical Officer will work in consultation and under supervision of Sr Technical officer for :
1. Strengthen the intra and inter departmental coordination on program planning & implementation, monitoring, supervision.
2. Coordinate with M & E Officer, CHRI & VBDCP Directorate for evidence-based program planning & implementation.
3. Provide technical support in preparation of city level action plans for dengue and chikungunya prevention and control and malaria elimination in the endemic districts on the State.
4. -Technical support for Investigation of outbreaks of dengue and malaria & management of the same.
• In collaboration with Sr Technical officer, facilitate in training of Govt. and private doctors, para-medical staffs etc. using modules developed on various aspects of malaria/dengue control and prevention – diagnosis and management, identification and reporting of suspected cases, outbreak investigation and management, integrated vector management etc.
• Technical support in making short term and long term IVM plan for malaria and dengue and chikungunya to prevent the outbreaks.
• Technical Support in the development of IEC strategy of the state for control & prevention of dengue and malaria.
• Coordinate with FHI 306 officials and guide them for Malaria control activities in the respective endemic districts.
• Travel extensively to the endemic districts for supervision and monitoring of the program implementation.
• Will provide regular updates and feedback to the Sr technical officer.
• Perform any other duties as and when assigned.

Qualifications:

Essential:
• MBBS/BDS/BAMS with a postgraduate degree in public health (MPH).
• 4 years + of working experience in public health programs.

Required Skills:
• Experience working in Public Health Programs.
• Skillful in computers with knowledge of MS-Office applications viz. Excel; Word and PowerPoint and internet is essential.
• Excellent analytical, negotiating and communication skills.

Required Experience:
• 4 + years of working experience in public health programs.
• Work experience in Maharashtra would be preferred.
• Prior work experience in NTDs malaria surveillance will be an asset.
