Context
MDF's works are ranging from implementing initiatives/projects and conducting research study where both efforts are contributing to the community development in Papua New Guinea. Currently, is working in one of its research study that is planned to be submitted for journal publication to disseminate the findings and results of the study to wider audience. To that end, MDF is seeking the support of online volunteers through this assignment, which specifically focusing on the WaSH study. Papua New Guinea is currently facing the effect of climate change on the water sources leading to water scarcity. Water scarcity is the major problem that contributed to lack of Sanitation practices and exposing the lives of poor communities in Papua New Guinea into grater risks of Waterborne diseases. Therefore, the present study explores the current status of water, sanitation, and hygiene of Barakau Village, in part through collecting community data using a WaSH survey. The WaSH survey broadly encompasses economic status, educational status, WaSH status and practices, health, waste and awareness, and perceptions within the community. The Barakau Village WaSH survey was completed in tandem with water quality testing, remote sensing, and ground survey of the regional mangrove forests. The purpose of the field survey assessment is to identify the effect of Anthropogenic Drivers especially water WaSH practices which correlates to the decline of regional mangroves. The journal editing tasks will be collaboratively done through Google Drive with the guidance from MDF focal point.
