Mission and objectives

The FJDI works with children, youth, women and communities to promote justice, development and economic recovery in northern Uganda. FJDI seeks solutions to the long-term impacts of the conflict which ravaged northern Uganda by advocating for redress of human rights violations and atrocities committed during the conflict, implementation of sustainable development initiatives, and promotion of economic empowerment through livelihood programs. We believe in the concept of Holistic Justice grounded in the notion that judicial mechanisms of redress go hand in hand with development and economic empowerment of victims.

Context

With funding support from the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), the FJDI is implementing a number of project activities in Uganda aimed at strengthening peace-building, post-conflict recovery and governance. Owing to the large volume of activities and tight reporting deadlines, FJDI needs to produce updated, precise, and high-quality reports that demonstrate impact. FJDI, therefore, seeks an individual who can dedicate time to receive reports from field staff, edit them, and collate them into weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports.

Task description

We are looking for one online volunteer to support our field program team with report writing. The online volunteer will receive and edit daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that are compiled by the FJDI program team in the course of program implementation. FJDI's program implementation team implements activities every week in line with approved work plans. For each activity, a team member is required to submit a daily situation report (DSR). At the end of each week, the DSRs are compiled into weekly reports. At the end of the month, weekly reports are compiled into monthly reports. And at the end of three quarters, the monthly reports are compiled into quarterly reports. On a monthly basis, FJDI produces an average of 8 DSRs (2 per week), 4 weekly reports and, 1 monthly report. The online volunteer will support FJDI for 3 months (or 12 weeks) and will help to edit at least 24 DSRs submitted by the field team and compile 12 weekly reports, 3 monthly reports, and 1 quarterly report. The volunteer will also assist in the writing of at least 2 progress reports for FJDI's donors.
