Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the School Principal.

Responsibilities

The incumbent:

1. Ensures the delivery of quality inclusive education to all students through:
1.1. Identifying the key concepts, content, skills and pedagogy appropriate to the delivery of curriculum subject areas taking into account needs of individual students;
1.2. Using a range of appropriate learner centered instructional strategies and techniques;
1.3. Enriching the host country's curriculum where appropriate to develop the competencies of students and achieve UNRWA learning goals and values in line with UNRWA Curriculum Framework;
1.4. Assessing students’ learning through the use of formative, summative and diagnostic assessment;
1.5. Maintaining a safe and effective learning environment in the classroom and school compound in accordance with the UNRWA school code of conduct;

2. Participates in the school co-curricular activities/committees and maintains links with the wider education community to improve the performance and wellbeing of students including activities on key social, environmental, health issues, child rights and protection.

3. Actively engages in school-based and other professional development including peer support, discussions and training in line with UNRWA approved policies, processes, and procedures.

4. Contributes to the systematic collection, recording and analysis of data in line with the school and UNRWA EMIS system.

5. Effectively communicates with parents and the school community regarding learner progress and needs.

6. Contributes to the school policy level development, planning and evaluation working as a team member.

7. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education

Applicants should hold one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education with graduation grade no less than 75% in the subject to be taught.
- Bachelor's degree with graduation grade no less than 75% in Arts or Science in addition to a one-year diploma in education.
- Master’s degree in education or the subject to be taught; for BA holders with graduation grade less than 75%.

Special Notice

Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment

Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Conditions of service:
• Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary at grade 09 is $959.80; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
• Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
• Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
• Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

This vacancy notice is open to internal and external candidates. Only candidates residing in Gaza Strip, and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply.
