Organizational Context
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies ("the Federation") is the world's largest volunteer-based humanitarian network with 190 member National Societies. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, our work is guided by seven fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
The Secretariat of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies ("the IFRC") works according to a Business Model and has a business implementation plan with key commitments that sharpen its focus, clarity, efficiency and accountability results. The Secretariat, based in Geneva, has five decentralized regional offices: one of these is the Americas, guided by the Secretariat's strategies for implementation and areas of focus based on the vision of the 2030 strategy. The Americas region is home to several subregional delegations, including the delegation for Southern Cone.
The Southern Cone delegation provides support to the five national societies in the sub-region; Argentine Red Cross, Brazilian Red Cross, Chilean Red Cross, Paraguayan Red Cross and Uruguayan Red Cross. The International Federation, in accordance with its statutes, is responsible for carrying out relief operations to assist victims of disasters and crises and to strengthen the capacity of its member National Societies.
Job Purpose
This position will be based in Buenos Aires, where the head of the Southern Cone office is located. And will report to the Cluster Head and the NSD/Membership Services Coordinator for Cono Sur. The person hired will be expected to lead the implementation of the Work Plan for Strengthening the Financial Sustainability and resource mobilization of Southern Cone National Societies and in turn support the establishment of alliances between the secretariat and external partners and support partnership efforts between the secretariat and members of the movement with a presence in Southern Cone.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Work axis for the Financial Sustainability of National Societies.
- Support the development of the financial sustainability plan, business plans and fundraising actions.
- Lead the design, formalization, implementation and follow-up of the actions established in the work plan, especially actions focused on diversification of funding sources, capacity building and maintenance of the network of focal points for resource development and financial sustainability.
- Promote and organize training courses, webinars, knowledge sharing events or other activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of National Societies (financial management, accountability, resource mobilization and management).
- Support the identification of challenges and best practices linked to the promotion of NS Sustainability, collect and disseminate them.
- Support the promotion of actions that allow the National Society to diversify its sources of income, particularly unrestricted funds, and to develop and maintain strong partnerships with the public and private sector.
- Promote the execution of actions aimed at the development of income-generating activities, aligned with the mission and vision of the Red Cross.
- Design, develop and maintain updated files with relevant information on the Financial Sustainability program for use by IFRC and National Societies.
- Support the promotion and dissemination of IFRC guidelines and tools for financial sustainability and resource mobilization.
- Promote a holistic view on Financial Sustainability and support advocacy actions directed to governance and/or movement partners.
- Provide support for the promotion and dissemination of mechanisms that guide National Societies to generate innovative financing mechanisms.
- Work jointly with the PRD unit in the promotion and development of capacity building actions.

Work axis for the support to the establishment and management of strategic alliances
- Support Southern Cone Cluster staff in the identification of opportunities for synergy and establishment of alliances, identification of funding opportunities (e.g. international competitive funds).
- Facilitate and support the establishment and maintenance of close and fluid relationships with key strategic partners within and outside the movement.
- Promote activities in coordination with Communication aimed at giving greater visibility to the work done in the Southern Cone area, either by the FIRC or by the National Societies, among current and potential partners (e.g., support in the preparation of marketing documents, investment cases related to the different programs and operations);
- Provide technical support to programs, operations and budget holders in negotiations with partners as required.
- Support the preparation of documents, communications, reports, translations, presentations and other materials as required by the programs.
- Support the coordination of meetings and events as required within the framework and scope of the position.
- Periodically monitor and follow up on relevant cash pledges as required, notifying on alerts.
Education
- University Studies in Marketing and Sales, Business Administration, or Social Sciences.
- Specializations and/or Certifications in Social Marketing, Resource Mobilization, Membership Development (Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in program/project assistance, administration, marketing, or similar functions.
- 3 years of experience assisting project management in the humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation sector (International Organizations, NGOs). (Preferred)
- 3 years of experience in resource mobilization and/or partner recruitment. (Preferred)
- Experience in organizing events, workshops, meetings.
- Experience or knowledge of the work of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. (Preferred)
