POSITION TITLE: High Voltage Electrician

DEPARTMENT: Force Engineering Office

BRANCH: Chief of Support

LOCATION: Sharm El-Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt

CATEGORY: International Staff – Grade 6 

DURATION: Initial two-year employment contract is offered, which can be renewed every two and includes a four-month probationary period. 

REPORTING LINE: Power Plant Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains the distribution system, switchgear, and transformers at either North or South Camp as required. This includes the installation, monthly inspection, test and repair of electrical substations, generator sets, and underground primary electrical distribution systems. Provides the knowledge and application of electrical and electronic principles, procedures, materials, and safety standards governing work on electrical systems up to 22KV. 

Key responsibilities and duties:

  1. Operation and maintenance activities involving the Power Plant and Electrical distribution HV systems; ensuring all duties under their responsibility are carried out in strict accordance with the MFO’s safety rules and operating procedures.
  2. Organizing preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs, upgrades, and minor improvements.   
  3. Assist the Generator Mechanic with the generator maintenance in accordance with manufactures instructions.
  4. Assist the development of plans for power distribution, transformers or switch gear improvement, upgrades and bills of material. 
  5. Monitors and maintains equipment and special tooling placed under his/her responsibility to include upkeep of Company/Site vehicles to the standards expected and detailed by the MFO. 
  6. Assists with the development of a program for regular training on workplace health and safety and the use of specialist tools.  
  7. Maintains detailed records of all work undertaken (in terms of description, work hours expended, and items used), and ensures accurate and timely completion of work orders.  Ensures that all work orders are raised in SAP, and these are maintained up-to date.
  8. Cover 24 hour “on call” duty as required to provide the Camp with electrical power.  
  9. Performs other duties as required/assigned.

 

Who are we looking for?

Candidates with more than 10 years’ relevant experience with High School diploma or equivalency; with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. The successful candidate must have a recognized Certification/ License for working 22 KV systems from his/her home country, excellent organizational skills, and fluency in written and spoken English.

Requirements:

  • Must have experience in all types of HV Electrical configurations to include, but not limited to, operation and maintenance of diesel engine power production and high voltage electrical distribution systems. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology, and safety precautions of the HV Electrician trade.
  • Must be able to work without supervision and always looking to develop procedures through continuous improvement. 
  • Must maintain a “safety & quality first” attitude with a solid customer focused outlook.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints; prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of material and labourr; select proper materials to be used.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning tools.
  • Must hold a valid home country driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position carries an annual total salary of USD$69,914.

  • A two-year, renewable, unaccompanied-status contract including free housing, meals, worldwide health insurance and recreational facilities is offered. May be eligible for tax free status.

  • Any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to the MFO HR Directives and other relevant internal rules. Any offer of employment with the MFO is conditional upon certification by the MFO Medical Adviser that the person concerned is medically fit to perform the specific inherent requirements of the position offered. To confirm an offer from the MFO the successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination.

  • Any extension of employment contracts is subject to various elements including the following:  continuing need of the functions and satisfactory conduct and performance.
