Senior Information Management Assistant
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Senior Information Management Assistant assists in the production and dissemination of information on the population of concern, including but not limited to Protection and Programme information.
The position is supervised by a more senior position at the field level and receives functional guidance and support from IM specialists at country/regional and global level. Subject to the nature of the task/assignment, he/she will work independently on routine tasks, while will follow instructions of the supervisor for more complex issues. The position has no supervisory role. The incumbent may play a liaison role with the national and local authorities for gathering and exchange of data.

Duties
- Assist in operationalizing country-specific common data standards and promoting them with partners.
- Assist in compiling and aggregating information elements required to produce standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data.
- Support the operation in the analysis of processed data and information and perform data quality and consistency control.
- Facilitate the analysis of cross-border information between relevant countries.
- May be required to collect GIS data, update maps and undertake field trips to project sites.
- May be required to participate in Needs Assessment processes, specifically in data collection, processing/collation and data exploration.
- Liaise with partners and represent UNHCR in meetings related to the functions.
- Decide on appropriate resolution to data management problems and escalate issues to the supervisor if incident cannot be resolved.
- Perform other related duties as required.

For G5 - 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher

Essential
Experience with handling confidential data and demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.
Desirable

Experience in web design and software development is an asset.
Experience with relevant software such as ArcGIS, Mapinfo, SPSS, EpiInfo6, SQL Server, and/or proGres.
Experience with HTML, PHP, ASP and/or Java is an asset.
Ability to formulate IM-related technical requirements and Operating Procedures.

Occupational Safety and Health Considerations:
Nature of Position:
The position sits in the Emergency Preparedness, Deployments and Partnerships Section (EPDPS) within the Division of the Emergency, Security and Supply (DESS). EPDPS is responsible for establishing global standards and tools to support emergency preparedness actions and coordinating emergency deployments from internal rosters and from standby partner organizations. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer and closely with EPDPS colleagues. S/he will support information management and data analysis, management of the DESS Emergency Preparedness and Response Portal and deployment database, as well as on deployment administration/management.
The incumbent will support information management and data analysis including the following among others:
Data/information collection through coordination with the regional bureaux, field operations, HQ Divisions, and external actors to support emergency risk analysis, contingency planning and others;
Design, development, and dissemination of dashboards, reports, and presentations in Microsoft Office applications, PowerBI, and Adobe tools;
Data analysis of deployment, emergency declarations and others to enable decision making;
Management of results framework and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) risk registry entries.
The incumbent will support management of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Portal and deployment database including the following among others:
Updates, uploads, maintenance and improvements of the portal;
Deployment database updates;
Coordination with the Division of Information Systems and Telecoms (DIST) on deployment database maintenance.
The incumbent will support deployment administration/management including the following among others:
Administration of the UNHCR roster and standby partner deployments;
Management of roster applications;
Coordination with HQ Divisions, including the Division of Human Resources (DHR) and the regional bureaux in relation to the Terms of References of deployments, technical clearance, etc.
The position requires excellent information management experiences, coordination and organization skills, capacity for analysis, attention to details, aptitude for innovation, inter-personal and communication skills, team-player, and willingness to learn.
Living and Working Conditions:
The incumbent will be based at HQ in Geneva.
