Result of Service
The Senior Advisor will deliver the following:
¿ Partnership and Advocacy towards COP28
o Document and attendance in G20/COP28 discussions in close collaboration with Cool Coalition Coordinator and Communications Officer
o Summary reports of consultations and consolidated feedback on the Global Cooling Pledge
o Documentation associated with Executive Committee and Steering Committee meetings
o Reporting on 6 Cool Coalition conferences/ workshops/ webinars to be attended by the specialist
¿ Stakeholder engagement through Working Groups
o Engagement in events as necessary for the Working Groups
o Development of at least two funding proposals
¿ Project Management
o Timely delivery of project activities planned for Chile, Morocco and Tunisia.

Duties and Responsibilities
UNEP is accelerating the global transition to energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling. Getting the right solutions in place for sustainable cooling essential for improving the quality of life and health of people without undue impacts on the planet.
The Cool Coalition is a global multi-stakeholder network that connects a wide range of key actors from government, cities, international organizations, businesses, finance, academia, and civil society groups to facilitate knowledge exchange, advocacy, and joint action towards a rapid global transition to efficient and climate-friendly cooling. The Secretariat of the Cool Coalition is hosted at UNEP.
Cool Coalition members have identified the need for global status check and an overview of implemented country actions as well as an evaluation of new opportunities and how far the world is from being on track to a net zero cooling pathway.
The consultant will support the Cool Coalition Secretariat in project management, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and knowledge management. The consultant will also support the Cool Coalition Coordinator and the Advocacy Lead on partnership and outreach activities linked to COP28.
¿ An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent additional experience) in environmental science or engineering.
¿ At least 5 years of professional experience with energy efficiency and climate policies, programmes and technologies related to refrigeration, air conditioning and related cooling solutions. Prior experience in analysis and research, preferably within a cooling context is desired. Experience working with emerging economies is a plus.
¿ Experience with project management on efficient cooling and global tools development for addressing cooling demand and its end-use solutions.
¿ Experience with policy, technical and regulatory aspects of cooling efficiency and the trends of global markets in the cooling arena.

¿ Experience with research coordination and report productions.

¿ Familiarity with the nexus between energy efficiency, refrigerant transition, climate change and other environmental issues.
¿ Experience in developing and building coalitions to support new activities.
¿ Excellent record in collaboration and ability to adapt to meeting varying needs as a project evolves.
¿ English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Proficiency in French is an asset.
