Head of Finance*
in Kyiv
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kyiv, Ukraine.
Welthungerhilfe, Alliance2015 members Concern Worldwide and CESVI, work in a single structure in Ukraine, under the name “Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine (JERU)” to support the population affected by the war. As Head of Finance, you will be leading the finance department composed of national and international staff. You will work closely with WHH, Concern and CESVI Head Offices.
Your responsibilities
- Support the Country Director in ensuring proper financial management of the programme and projects in the country
- Focal areas of responsibility are based on Welthungerhilfe's rules and standards, as well as administrative process descriptions and progress reports of the projects
- Directly contribute in the development of new budgets for new project proposals, and contribute in the country strategy development.
- Work closely with programs team, support in budget planning and forecasting, closely monitor budget spent, and troubleshoot any concerns to the head of programs and the country director
- Manage the finance team, support in their development and mentor them throughout their work
- Ensure that the finance department closely supports national partnerships from capacity assessment, to the implementation of projects and reporting.
- Manage the finance department and its systems for the Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine (JERU) and actively suggest improvements in the systems.
- Act as primary focal point for finance matters between JERU partners, ensure the flow of financial information towards the finance departments of its members, work closely with their finance counterparts and troubleshoot any issues to the Country Director and respective colleagues at Head Offices
Your profile
- A university or college degree in a relevant field e.g. finance and/or accounting
- At least 3 years of professional experience in the same or an equivalent position, preferably in the region
- International humanitarian donor experience would be an asset
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills, especially in financial management
- Strong intercultural competencies and ability to work in a multinational team
- Willingness to work in a conflict zone
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's project countries
- Excellent spoken and written English; Ukrainian and/or Russian language skills would be an advantage
