Under the guidance and overall supervision of the Project Management Unit (Technical Advisor and Project Manager) of the “Investing in Coral Reefs and Blue Economy” project, and day-to-day management of the GEF-6 Provincial Administrator, the Driver/Clerk provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work.
The Driver/Clerk demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different nationality and cultural backgrounds. The Driver/Clerk should be willing to work overtime, including early mornings and weekends, when necessary in order to ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
The Driver/Clerk provides support and driving services to the operations and projects/programme staff in the Kimbe project office, to consultants, experts, and UN staff on mission. This will include participants in the Investing in Coral Reefs and Blue Economy project Technical Assistance Facility Blue Accelerator Program. When time permits the Driver/Clerk will also provide support to the GEF-6 and GEF-7 project activities occurring around Kimbe town.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Driver/Clerk will be responsible for the following key functions;
Provision of reliable and secure driving services.
Proper use of vehicle
Day-to-day maintence of the assigned vehicle
Availability of documents/supplies
Clerical and logistical support
Assist with any tasks as requested by Hiring Manager
a. Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services and supporting the administrative services by;
• Driving office vehicles for the transportation of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items
• Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities and arrangements when required.
• Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure UNDP visibility in Kimbe town is at all times representative of timely, professional conduct.
b. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports and proper use of the other office resources.
c. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, a arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
d. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs,
office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.
e. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement
in accidents
f. Provides logistical support by;
Photocopying and duplication services
Assist with office filing
Packaging/packing of material received for dispatch
Collecting quotes from vendors
g. Assist with any tasks as requested by the hiring manager
