Functional Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Logistics and Asset Management Analyst, s/he will be responsible for the following functoins:

- Provision of reliable and secure driving services including underharsh and difficult driving conditions outside Abuja
- Proper use of vehicle
- Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle
- Maintenance of required documents/supplies
- Immediate action in case of accident
- Provides reliable and secure driving services by a) driving vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and, in the case of construction (Infrastructure) for the transport of logistics and/or project equipment etc; b) collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items; and c) meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required.
- Ensures proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean.
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
- Ensures that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
Expected results are:
· Defensive driving
· Adherence to Health and Safety regulation on various sites
· Greater reliance on standards and guidelines vehicular regulations and guidelines in place and aligned with UNOPS
Other tasks are assigned by the immediate supervisor or Head of the Unit.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:
- High School (Secondary or equivalent) with two years of relevant experience is required.
Experience:
- Relevant experience is defined as experience working as a driver.
- Basic Vehicle Mechanical knowledge is required.
- One year of experience in Vehicle Maintenance is required.
Certification:
- Valid driver’s license is required. Please attach a copy of your Driver's License to your Application.
Language:
- Fluency in English (reading, speaking, writing) is required.
- Fluency in Somali (reading, speaking, writing) is required.
