Context

VNR report on the SDGs are key elements of the national review process. Report will identify gaps in implementation, including in data and strategies, as well as policy challenges, tradeoffs, and emerging global, regional and national issues. Report shall not just describe trends in indicators; it shall analyse underlying causes behind the trends, reflect on the preliminary data of the Census 2022 and offer policy suggestions to overcome obstacles and dealing with emerging challenges. It will provide data and an assessment of Maldives progress against all SDGs targets. It will also identify changes since the VNR 2017 of Maldives. Importantly, the report shall clearly spell out the impact of global pandemic, COVID-19, on the implementation and achievement of SDGs and how to recover sustainably and resiliently. The VNR would need to encompass the significance of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network (INPFN) project as an accelerator to achieving SDGs in Maldives based on the High level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 theme "Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels.” Led by the SDG Division of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure with the drafting support from a local consultancy and technical guidance from the VNR team, the VNR Report has been drafted on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Maldives for the HLPF 2023. To that end, we are seeking the support of Online Volunteers in copy edit and proofread the report tentatively between 28-31 May 2023.
