Job Description

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Manager to join our highly dynamic and growing team. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, implementation and evaluation of our projects. You will ensure that our projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet the desired outcomes and impact.  You will work closely with our partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to ensure that their needs are met, and their voices are heard. You will also be responsible for managing resources, and reporting on project progress.

Position is ideal for you if you:

 

  • Have proven project management experience, including preferably a qualification in a recognised project management approach (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, Lean).

  • Background in working in international development, for NGOs, donors, UN agencies and/or private consultancies.

  • Have worked in fragile and conflict affected countries or on projects in those countries.

  • Are proactive - you anticipate problems and tasks, communicate them to the team, and propose solutions.

  • Are highly organised.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, to high levels of quality and in keeping with our ethics and ethos.

  • Design, tailor and implement project management tools and processes.

  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, ensuring that they are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

  • Develop and sustain our reputation for high quality, innovative, and client and community focused work.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Lead on project responses to strategic risks and opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting deadlines.

  • Balance project and company resource requirements.

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with project partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to build strong relationships and ensure that their needs are met.

  • Sometimes perform technical advisory and other roles on contracted projects.

  • Support the identification of lessons from across Bodhi Global Analysis’ portfolio, and beyond, and facilitate lesson-learning across the Team.

  • Support senior team members to drive cross-project project management good practice, through design and delivery of training modules and other learning events.

  • Engage with the wider sector through attendance and participation in relevant external events.

 

Person Specification

 

  • Qualification and experience

    • BSc qualification.

    • 6+ years experience working in international development or the wider consultancy sector.

    • Proven expertise in the management of complex multi-year projects, including managing and implementing projects in accordance with approved budget, client regulations and procedures, and the specifications determined in the SOW.

    • Proficiency in international development NGO, donor governments, and UN agency regulations, procurement procedures and contract compliance.

    • Strong people skills evidenced by client and team management experience, including through Project Manager roles.

    • Experience of developing and running effective and efficient project management systems.

    • Have experience working in the international development sector / FCAS environments.

    • Experience in deploying to challenging operating contexts to start up new monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) platforms or similar programs for international development NGOs, donors, UN agencies, or development consultancies.

    • Experience supporting the pursuit of new business, including competitive bidding. 

 

Core competencies

 

  • Be an advanced user of relevant project management and other software, including ability to build systems.

  • Have significant experience project management methodologies, and relevant accreditation (e.g. Prince2, Agile etc).

  • Written and oral fluency in English, with excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and compelling narrative.

  • It is desirable that the PM will also: Have technical experience in MEL and/or thematic experience in fragility and violent conflict, health, gender & social inclusion; climate, natural resources and environment; governance; and/or economic development.

  

Skills required

 

  • Attention to detail: A commitment to high quality deliverables and reports, meticulous in approach to research and report writing.

  • Initiative and flexibility: Competency in independent working, show initiative towards completing goals and objectives, but also have the flexibility to adapt and answer to different demands necessary to fulfil assigned tasks.

  • Teamwork: Openness to ideas and input from others in the team, ability to work collaboratively, have strong listening and interpersonal skills.

  • Organisation: A systematic approach to work, with the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently, meeting deadlines under pressure.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate (verbal and written) confidently in English and adapt to different audiences and cultural contexts.
