One CGIAR science is dedicated to transforming food, land and water systems in a climate crisis, and it is carried out by 13 CGIAR Centers/Alliances in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations and the private sector.

CIP works with partners in over 20 countries to improve diets and incomes of poor people in Africa, Asia and Latin America through scientific research, innovation, and capacity strengthening. Focusing on potato and sweetpotato as food systems entry point, CIP’s programs seek to strengthen broader agri-food systems to generate economic, social and nutritional benefits for farmers, enterprises and consumers emphasizing the priorities of women and youth in particular. CIP emphasizes the synergies between social and bio-physical sciences as a core strategy for making breakthroughs in our understanding of complex development challenges in food and agriculture and for our ability to overcome these. Within this pluralistic strategy, qualitative social science has a central, and increasing place for explaining human and institutional behavior and assessing benefits and risks for human development.

The position: The HR Manager will be responsible for leading HR Services Unit and will report to the People and Organizational Development Director; the selected candidate will be based in Lima, Peru.

Duties and Accountabilities

Compensation and Benefits:

• Develop and manage a consistent and progressive compensation program including salary surveys and market research to ensure competitiveness in the market.

• Provide advice to business leaders on pay decisions, promotions and retention strategies for existing staff, and policy or guideline interpretation.

• Develop and evaluate the effectiveness of compensation policies, practices, processes, procedure, and guidelines and identify financial costs impacts.

• Ensure market data analysis and recommendations are aligned with compensation strategy and direction. • Create and implement compensation communication for managers and staff. POD Strategy and development:

• Contribute to the organizational POD strategy including succession planning, recruiting, compensation and benefits, training, and organizational development with internal clients and senior leaders, to achieve business objectives.

• Support and advise managers and staff in solving POD issues and help them to interpret and apply POD policies and practices in their day-to-day work.

• Manage complex and challenging functional POD projects and implements initiatives. • Lead organization-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.

• Administrate spending against the departmental budget.

Who are we looking for?

• Advanced University degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Human Behavior, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field. An undergraduate degree with 15 years relevant experience may be considered.

• At least 8 years human resource management experience in a senior role followed by significant leadership experience in Organizational Development (OD) with a strong appreciation of the interplay between OD and human resource management (HRM). • Excellent strategic thinking, planning and execution skills including the ability to anticipate the talent and organization implications and identify strategic challenges and priorities. • Familiarity with strategic planning, including compensation practices, data analysis, organizational diagnosis and development, deep understanding of current HR trends in compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation frameworks.
