Youth Co:Lab has been implemented in 25 countries and territories across Asia Pacific: Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong (SAR), Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vanuatu and Viet Nam.

Context

In recent years, there has been a growing movement of young people across the Asia-Pacific region calling for urgent action on the climate agenda. Through climate strikes and effective use of media, young people have been calling for governments and other relevant stakeholders to take collective action on climate change. However, young people are often marginalized and excluded from the decision-making processes that will shape their futures. In 2020, the Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) was established by UNDP Asia-Pacific and UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia-Pacific, RCC Bangkok, in collaboration with UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific, UNICEF South Asia, British Council, YOUNGO, Movers Programme and 2030 Youth Force as a safe and inclusive space for youth across Asia and the Pacific to meaningfully engage in climate action. YECAP is currently working to consolidate the organizations in Asia-Pacific Countries led by youth and/or for youth on Climate Issues. Therefore, adequate and accurate data on relevant organizations is needed to propel youth climate action in the region for the achievement of SDG13. We are now seeking support from youth volunteers from Timor-Leste to map out national organizations working on climate. Successful candidates will need to collect data such as basic information about the organizations, short description, geographic information, social media links, and identify the fields that the organizations work on.
