- Sustainable Procurement Framework, effective as of 1st January 2020, which requires that most of our procurement processes incorporate sustainability and gender mainstreaming considerations.
- Delivering Responsibility in Vendor Engagement programme (DRiVE). DRiVE is UNOPS supplier sustainability assessment, inspection and corrective action-planning programme. Its overall scope is to ensure UNOPS vendors operate responsibly and in accordance with high standards of integrity, with a focus on human rights, labour standards, equal opportunity, code of conduct, health and safety, quality management and environmental management.
- Possibilities Programme, which is UNOPS supplier diversity and inclusion programme.

Functional Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of sustainable Supply Chains, the main functional responsibilities of this position are as follows:
1. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Head of sustainable Supply Chains, develop, plan and coordinate the execution of the work plan for the team within the agreed timeline and quality standards;
- Coordinate the workstreams in the sustainable supply chain-team for further integration and alignment and cross collaboration
- Coordinate the cross collaboration of the team workstreams including the promotion of collaborative work with PG
- Promote continuous learning within the team and collaboration across the organization;
- Fostering and enabling a positive environment of trust, transparency and diversity;
- Ensure that the mandatory sustainable procurement requirements are aligned and fit for purpose.
- Lead the integration and or alignment with the sustainable procurement criteria and other SP initiatives
- Carry out assessments in order to identify areas of improvement and development to remain proactive in this area
- Lead the efforts in the improvement of quality of criteria being used in UNOPS tenders, that go beyond the policy compliance
- Work with the Procurement Assurance team ineffective monitoring and reporting of the uptake and implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Framework.
- Develop user friendly ways for internal stakeholders to adopt and apply the Sustainable Procurement Framework
- Consolidate the supplier sustainability and development initiatives, namely DRiVE and UNOPS Possibilities, as part of UNOPS supplier / supply chain engagement and development efforts.
- Manage the UNOPS supplier sustainability programme (DRiVE) which will include its continuous improvement and rollout at project level.
- Manage the UNOPS supplier diversity and inclusion programme (Possibilities Programme), including related supplier capacity development initiatives such as the UP Forums.
- Develop and implement climate-related tools and trainings for suppliers
- Carry out announced and unannounced supplier site inspections according to risks and priorities identified;
- Work with the Procurement Assurance team to monitor and continuously improve supplier sustainability and development under consolidated reporting
- Develop and implement supplier improvement, capacity development and risk management processes, including in the context of supporting in the rehabilitation processes under the Vendor Review Committee (VRC);
4. Policy, standards, Knowledge Sharing and capacity development:
- Support and in some cases lead the review, development and continuous improvement of policies, standards, guidelines, tools and systems related to embedding sustainability into UNOPS Procurement and projects;
- Lead the development of tools and guidance on the implementation of the sustainable supply chain and procurement practices including the management of internal communication and learning. This includes the intranet, community of practitioners, knowledge management and training (online and in person).
- Lead the development of training for country offices and other internal UNOPS stakeholders with the ambition for increased scalability and decentralization
- Acting as an internal ambassador raising UNOPS awareness of the importance of sustainable supply chain and procurement policies and frameworks
- Create case studies, posts and other knowledge products for procurement practitioners, and the wider UNOPS community
- Represent UNOPS in relevant fora, including at the HLCM Procurement Network’s sustainable procurement working group
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:
- Advanced Degree (Master’s Degree) preferably in Sustainability, Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies or related field.
- A First University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in combination with a minimum of seven (7) years’ qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of sustainability, sustainable procurement or corporate social responsibility is required.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out supplier inspections or similar investigating or auditing work is required.
- Experience in developing countries is an advantage
- Knowledge and experience in the application of UNOPS/UN procurement policies and procedures will be considered an asset.
- Fluency in written and oral English is a requirement
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage
