Onboarding a Travel Agency for Organizing Exposure Visit from India to Philippines - 2023

About Room to Read
Room to Read India is global Non-Profit organisation transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, our innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools during two time periods that are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education.
About SERI Project
Room to Read India collaborated with the USAID under the Scaling-up Early Reading Intervention (SERI) project to widen Early Grade Reading among young children. With support from USAID, this program is being implemented in the primary schools of Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and recently, in Telangana and Rajasthan. Under SERI, Room to Read India implements an innovative model of scale-up based on a scaffolded approach of ‘I do – We do – You do’. This partnership phase focuses on building systemic capacities through training and learning sessions within and beyond country. The project standardized various aspects of the model, contextualized components within government delivery systems, and made the process and implementation cost-effective to suit government budget sources.
Background
Exposure visits for government education officials have been a key success component of the SERI program. It has resulted in widening the understanding of government officials in pedagogic approaches, delivery mechanisms and measurement of foundational literacy initiatives.
While the selected participants from the SERI states have made exposure visits within the country and gained insights on strengthening the implementation of NIPUN Bharat in their respective states, it is important to understand FLN initiatives from a global point of view.
This year Room to Read is organising an exposure visit for government officials from 6 Indian states (under the SERI program) to the Philippines.
