Job Background/Overview:  
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Director, Program Impact to lead on the writing, designing and creation of donor materials to inspire high value philanthropy.  Materials include but are not limited to case for support, gift proposals, gift opportunities, donor impact reports, gift acknowledgements, recognition and celebration, donor newsletters, event invitations, digital assets, web content, and other donor-focused communications and marketing materials.  The creative content will target donors, Board members, and ambassadors to generate enthusiasm for and support of the mission and vision of The IRC. 

Since its inception in 1933, the IRC delivers lasting impact to refugees fleeing from war or disaster by offering lifesaving card, life-changing assistance, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant. This role is part of the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services team, which aims to provide the High Value Fundraising teams (USA Philanthropy and International Philanthropy and Partnerships) with best-in-class support in a single, unified service model.

The ideal candidate will bring their creative, entrepreneurial fundraising & content development leadership to direct a new approach to our impact strategy. 

Major Responsibilities: 
Lead a comprehensive donor impact and communication program that engages prospective donors, demonstrates philanthropic impact, and inspires on-going support through multi-channel content and tailored communications across Global HNWI’s, Corporations, Trust & Foundations, and New Funding Modalities.
Management of 4 Direct Reports, across 3 functional areas (Editorial Services, Program Visits, Funding Impact) 17 total team members
Lead Strategy for global emergency appeal coordination in collaboration with IRC’s Emergency Activation Unit 
Supervise Global Program Visit strategy across Bespoke, Grant Compliance and Delegation donor trips
Develop and refine the IRC Case for Support and the ways in which philanthropy can advance strategic priorities through creative storytelling;
Refine proposal library that includes templated language, brand design for gift opportunities with easy adaptability for customization and tailored proposals.
In partnership with internal teams, develop template language and protocols for acknowledgements, pledge monitoring, donor recognition, and recording of donor commitments. 
Skilled writer and storyteller using language, visuals, and examples that all audiences can relate to and understand.  Conceptualize design as part of the writing assignment from long form narrative to develop dynamic, impactful communications.
Ability to work within a matrixed organization that spans technical areas and geographies to develop proposals specific to the donor’s intent. 
Proactively collaborate with fundraisers and colleagues on event management, communications and marketing, campaign, to develop robust donor cultivation, stewardship strategies, donor recognition, acknowledgements, and provide strategic guidance and direction based on experience and expertise.
Responsible for working with IRC’s marketing and communications to align with brand guidelines and reflect the vision and impact of the initiative.  Materials should inspire and motivate donors, respond to their interest with accuracy, attention to detail.
Ability to work across cultures and understand different expectations, norms of a diverse global community of funders, ensure awareness of differences in language and culture when reporting across different localities
Assess, design, and evaluate an ambitious program of stewardship and recognition, including a review of the effectiveness of current efforts and where development and implementation of new programs would be most beneficial

Position Supervises: 4 Direct reports (team of 17 total) 

Essential Qualifications: 
Significant experience in communications/content development, ideally within philanthropy
Experience working with global donors and international programming 
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple stakeholders
Excellent administrative skills with strong attention to detail
Excellent written skills
Familiarity with design, design tools and software.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve
Strong computer skills with knowledge of databases, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and other technology tools and platforms.  Strong comfort with technology and ability and willingness to learn new skills.
Knowledge of CRM or similar database
Experience managing highly confidential and sensitive information.

Working Environment:  
This role may require working remotely or in hybrid remote/office environments. Occasional travel may be required. Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.

Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
