About The/Nudge:
The/Nudge is an action institute working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime. We partner with governments, markets, and civil society to build resilient livelihoods for all. We are a collective of some of India’s best leaders and entrepreneurs from across the industry, academia, government, and development sectors, and our work is organized across three impact streams:
-
Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE): enables underprivileged youth to lead flourishing lives
-
Centre for Rural Development (CRD): enables rural families to come out of extreme poverty
-
Centre for Social Innovation (CSI): helps build a thriving livelihoods ecosystem
At The/Nudge you will:
● Collaborate with the Centers and Programs to create, validate or refine their Impact strategy and Theory of Change. Drive the design of a common impact assessment framework to accommodate multiple programs.
● Define the monitoring and evaluation framework for each program including metrics and what is driving/hindering data collection.
● Drive evaluation (including third party and multi-player evaluation). The focus will be deep understanding of the outcomes to generate insights to help refine/enhance the work on the ground. The team will involve external stakeholders to make this most effective.
● Create access to external data sets and impact information (both government and non-government) and integrate them with our data and knowledge to provide learning for our work and insights to the broader field.
● Support the wider organization in thinking through and integrating (where relevant and possible) cross-cutting areas like gender, empowerment, SDGs, etc.
● Senior member of a team that is seen as a thought leader in the “Impact evaluation” space and influences it (from policy to practice) through a deep understanding of the practitioners’ perspective rather than an academic point of view.
● Have a deep understanding of the evaluation space and its evolution over time - from methodologies used and the practical aspects of executing them in the Indian context, to more importantly understanding what to measure to understand impact and what is driving/impeding it.
● Have strong relationships with key stakeholders including other operating organizations, funders, M&E organizations like JPAL and IDInsights, and organizations doing field data collection (traditional and new) that are interested/working in the evaluation and impact measurement space
Apply if you have:
● Master’s or a higher degree (focus on developmental studies, public policy, rural development, management, economics is preferred)
● 8-10 years of experience, ideally combined with 2-4 years of field work/dev sector experience in India or the other developing countries (across rural/urban livelihoods, education, health, environment). Experience with incubation support, impact investing or government engagement is desirable as well.
● Strong analytical and synthesis skills; experience in formulating data design and establishing a sound analytical framework around it.
● Able to apply the knowledge of theoretical frameworks to practical situations.
●Able to combine macroeconomic understanding with microeconomic aspects of programs.
● Enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
