About Restless Development
Restless Development is an agency for youth-led development. Through 10 hubs across the globe, we empower young people with skills, information, and connections so that they become leaders in solving challenges that they and their communities face. Tackling unemployment and sexual rights, supporting young people to have a voice, and enabling youth leadership at the heart of development, Restless Development programs are genuinely life-changing.
Restless Development is registered in India as Student Partnership Worldwide India Project Trust. We have been working in India for over 2 decades & impacted over a million young people directly through its programmes and initiatives. Our programs deliver on four core goals: to ensure that young people can exercise a meaningful voice in the issues that concern them, scope, and skills to pursue a decent living, information on and unrestricted access to their sexual rights, and capacity and space to be leaders in addressing local, national, and global challenges. We recognize these goals as the four fundamental cornerstones of youth-led development. To know more about Restless Development, please visit: www.restlessdevelopment.org.
About the Programme
The programme intends to work with children in 20 schools (middle school and high school) in Munger, Jamalpur and Bariyarpur Block of Munger district. It aims to focus on building aspiration among girls so that they stay motivated to pursue secondary education and beyond. The programme also intends to work closely with School Management committees, and platforms like Meena Manch and Bal Sansad towards bringing ownership of key stakeholders in the school development processes.
The project intends to harness the collective power of local activists to advance progress towards girls’ access to free, safe, quality secondary education - Restless Development India empowers local young leaders, especially girls to be the changemakers to catalyze the outcomes of education through interventions in schools. The programme aims at working with the key educational ecosystem stakeholders in a peer-to-peer youth-led model- from students, schools, SMCs, CSOs to district and state level departments. We seek to develop a strong ecosystem strengthening & district level advocacy program built on the foundation of the success of the My Education My Right Programme (Initiative supported by the Malala Fund), addressing gender norms at the individual, household, community, school, and government levels that limit girls’ access to education.
Following are the major outcome areas of the project:
- Girls feel confident and are able to develop education /career pathways for themselves while also supported by young leaders in building overall agency and representation.
- Young girls, students and schools are inspired by an improved awareness of the significance of young voices in state, national level conversations.
- Students and teachers are able to understand and accept the purpose of a strong and robust feedback mechanism at schools and encourage students to write regular feedback and review them together, periodically.
- SMCs are established as powerful tool and SMC members have better and improved knowledge on the purpose of SMCs to seek and secure accountability at the school level.
