Overview of position

 Need Statement (indicate the purpose of this assignment and indicate the RWP reference number(s)): UNICEF in 2022, recruited and trained staff for urban health facilities including TFUs and health facilities with high caseload to support the prevention and treatment of severe acute malnutrition. The objective of hiring additional staff to detect, refer, and treat more malnourished children is to respond to increase malnutrition caseload in the region. Keeping in view the high malnutrition rates and HR gaps at supported clinics, the urban nutrition program will be sustained to continue the provision of life saving nutrition services. The rational for hiring services of LTA holder is the limitation of fund transfer de-facto authorities. The services of LTA holder will be required to process their monthly payment for smooth implementation of program.

Role objectives

Nutrition Nurse

  • Responsible for management of SAM children (OPD-SAM and IPD SAM).

  • Diagnosis, treatment of the SAM patients with medical complication as per the national IMAM guidelines.

  • Checking for all IMNCI danger sign and performance of physical examination for admitted SAM children

  • Provide nursing care to inpatient SAM children and prepare milk preparation (F75 and F100) as per standard IMAM guideline

  • Ensure proper recording keeping at clinics and report data weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis as per standard reporting format.

  • Proper stock management and updating of stock cards and RUTF supply management

  • Regular conduct sessions and provide health and nutrition education to mothers and care takers of SAM children.

  • Work with mothers to promote SST and breast feeding at IPD SAM.

  • Assist the doctor in filling the registration for SAM children.

  • Provide regular feeding to the child using standard guideline.

  • Weighing SAM child regularly and record his/her weight at MMS/TSS

  • Discharge cured children using stander discharge criteria.

  • Nursing or related field
