Overview
Jhpiego Pakistan - an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) funded program, is working to pilot Group Antenatal Care (G-ANC) in Sindh. This G-ANC Meeting Guide is part of a package of materials developed by Jhpiego, to help facilities implement Group ANC. See the G-ANC Implementation Guide for details on the full package. This G-ANC model, first developed and tested in 2015‒2016 in Nigeria and Kenya, has been adapted in this edition: restructured into 7 meetings to operationalize the World Health Organization 2016 recommendation that women should have a minimum of eight ANC contacts; 2. revised to be more suitable for facilities that want to provide G-ANC as the predominant service delivery model (i.e., offer all women coming for ANC). This guide includes the instructions to facilitate all 7 meetings to help providers deliver G-ANC to pregnant women.
Jhpiego is looking for a highly motivated short-term consultant to review existing training materials and job aids for use during group antenatal care.
Responsibilities
The key objective is to:
- Review existing materials for group ANC and design
- Develop illustrations on group ANC as per local context
- Finalize job aids and materials in English and translate in Urdu and Sindhi
The consultant will have following specific ToRs to complete this short-term assignment:
- Desk review of existing training material on group ANC and alignment with national and provincial guidelines
- Adapt existing illustrations for group Antenatal care as per the local context, the illustrations should focus on improving health literacy, provide information for birth preparedness and complication readiness and as required using the existing materials in health system
- Engage a graphic designer and supervise for finalization of illustrations
- Finalize different job aids, leaflets, handouts on G-ANC as provided by Jhpiego in English
- Incorporate Jhpiego’s and other relevant stakeholders’ feedback and incorporate in the training material
- Translation of job aids and training materials in Urdu while adapting language from existing materials with department of health and Sindh Lady Health Workers’ program
- Finalize material translation after feedback from project team and government technical officials
- Pretesting of the materials in consultation with Jhpiego team
- Any other relevant tasks
Deliverables:
- Finalized materials as per local context
- Translation of job aids and materials in Urdu and Sindhi
- Illustrations as per given materials
Timelines and LOE: (Duration and number of days)
The consultant will complete and submit the deliverables and assignment will be completed in one month time.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate in public health, social sciences or relevant
- Previous experience of contributing in development /developing similar IEC materials on reproductive health/ANC
- In-depth understanding of local/Sindhi context
- Knowledge of reproductive health guidelines and latest protocols for antenatal care
- Well aware of the technical terminologies used in Urdu/Sindhi language
- Willingness to travel to intervention site/s as and when needed
- Can engage a graphic designer with knowledge and experience of developing illustrations for health/RH issues.
