Service Requirements/Terms of Reference (ToR)
Rationale: Government of India under Ayushman Bharat initiative launched School Health & Wellness Program (SHWP) in 2019 to promote health and well-being of school going students and leverage schools to improve access to correct and comprehensive information on a range of topics which are necessary for adolescent and Youth. The program is implemented in aspirational districts in the first phase across the country and it is getting scaled up in remaining districts in a phased manner. The ministry has developed a standard curriculum which is activity based for students from class 6th to class 12th and covers 11 themes. The program has used a cascade approach where national trainers build capacities of state trainers, state trainers build capacities of districts trainers and district trainers conducted training for block trainers who finally involved in training of two teachers from each school on the program curriculum. After the pandemic the program has gained momentum and will be scaled to new districts in years to come hence it is critical to assess the current strategies and approaches used for implementation of the program along with feedback from students in order to address key gaps and challenges faced during the implementation of the program before it is scaled up to other districts across the country.
Aim: The implementation research study will measure the effectiveness of the strategies and processes adopted for the implementation of SHWP in three selected states.
