Functional Responsibilities

The Analyst will support the Social and Environmental Specialist in managing the 2024 Environmental Inventory round; facilitate the monitoring and daily implementation of the SE management system; and support other work-streams of the team. The responsibilities of the Social and Environmental Analyst include the following:

  • Support the general work on social and environmental management through document management, drafting of presentation, desktop research, data management, etc. 

  • under the supervision of the Social and Environmental Specialist, support the corporate GHG reporting process with field offices, the coordination with the 2024 focal points network, and the data assurance process

  • Get acquainted with the online reporting platform used by UNOPS, facilitate liaison with the product support team, perform user testing and ensure UNOPS requirements are properly reflected on the platform

  • Assist in the preparation of the training plan for the Inventory, and facilitate the delivery of webinars and other outreach events

  • Coordinate the 2024 drafting of the yearly Inventory Management Plan for the GHG inventory process, my managing the recording all procedural steps 

  • Coordinate the daily queries and interactions with field offices and colleagues seeking guidance on the Inventory and on other aspects of the SE management system; and perform other ad hoc tasks in support of the team activities as requested.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:
An Advanced University Degree or a Master's Degree in: Climate Change, Energy, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Engineering, Political Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields is required.

A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the field of climate change (mitigation and adaptation), environment and sustainable development is required. 

Experience in GHG inventories/ databases is an advantage.

Experience in knowledge, communication, or information management particularly in regard to the development of promotional material  is desired.

Knowledge of Google Workspace, preferably Google sheet, Google doc, Google slides and Google drive, is required. 

Language:
Fluency in English is a requirement. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
