These positions are located in the United Nations Field Peacekeeping Operations, Special Political Missions, Service Centres and Offices as applicable. The Supply Officer usually reports to a Supply Officer at a senior level.
Responsibilities
• Develops, reviews, monitors, assesses and handles technical contracts for the provision of supply support services including general supplies, rations and fuel.
• Plans and prepares cost estimates/budget implications and long-term forecasts of Organization’s requirements for supply support services, including general supplies, rations and fuel.
• Designs, develops and updates relevant software for tracking, reconciliation, and costing purposes.
• Initiates actions leading to procurement, maintenance and disposal of items.
• Implement supply support services operations, in the business areas of general supplies, rations, fuel and other related services.
• Undertakes market research and reviews best practices in contract development and adapts such practices to United Nation’s (UN) requirements.
• Ensures that mission strategic and local reserves of general supplies, rations and fuel are maintained at adequate levels, at all times.
• Conducts technical survey visits both in start-up phase and during implementation, to plan and ensure most efficient use of resources.
• Develops plans for redeployment of assets when Missions are liquidated.
• Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
• Analyzes problems, audit and performance reports on mission activities and provides remedial action programmes where required.
• Maintains accurate allocation and control of all equipment and stocks received, stored and distributed by the mission.
• Prepares Receiving and Inspection (R & I) Reports for submission to Procurement Unit.
• Monitors Third Party Agent procurement status.
• Assists in developing appropriate sourcing solutions, supply contracts, for general supplies, rations, fuel, and/or other associated support services, including the preparation of statements of work (SOW)/specifications, technical evaluations, and presentation of cases to the Local Committee on Contracts (LCC)/Headquarters Committee on Contracts (HCC).
• Assist in ensuring that routine Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for supply support services are in place to validate contractual terms and condition for the supply of general supplies, rations and fuel.
• Coordinate with all partners, issues pertaining to safety, security and maintenance of general supplies, rations, fuel, installations, vehicles, and equipment.
• Provides guidance to, or supervises new/junior staff.
• Performs other duties as required.

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain management, including general supplies, rations, fuel, procurement, contract management, logistics, property management, project management or related area, is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree.
Experience in a specific subject area of supply chain services, such as general supplies, rations or fuel operations, is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency (oral and written) in English is required. Working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
